Nothing Trudeau says can be taken as good advice in all honesty. Also I’m sorry to hear you’re a single father as I’m sure it’s difficult and as much as you can teach a daughter how her future husband should treat her no man can teach a daughter how to be a woman the way a mother can. Same way no mother can teach a son how to be a man. Because mothers are not men and fathers are not women.

That advice at the end is the best advice I've heard. Such a simple act, but so important. I can personally relate to being constantly interrupted by specific people while I was growing up, and that experience effects me even now, as an adult. It changed my beliefs and expectations of myself as a child and has made me less confident in speaking, which has really added a huge barrier to my academic and social performance.

That's what i dont understand in feminism, it's supposed to defend equal rights, but then again it treats women and men differently, like Trudeau said "you shouldn't interrupt a women" but why not "you shoulnd't interrupt people" if the end goal is equality i think you should treat both man and women the same...
@jarnozo7 жыл бұрын
João Domingos yea, men get interupted too by women. making it a female only issue will just make a society where interupting men is acceptable.
@tetchybutton07 жыл бұрын
stop copy pasting this dumb message! "I think he means" No he means what he said you idiot! not need to twist what he said.
@Hayey297 жыл бұрын
this is true but think of it this way. In the workplace, women have always been treated differently, and this is something that is still happening today. Women are paid less than men and are seen as emotional and illogical. Living with this stereotype, when a man interrupts me when I am trying to contribute to work, they are dismissing my knowledge for my stereotype. In other words, when a man interrupts a woman, they are assuming that they have nothing valuable to say. This is not an everyday problem for men. Just like men don't have to worry about going anywhere alone at night, they don't have to worry about having their voice heard. And when this happens, women cannot stand up for themselves because they will seem too emotional. When this happens to a man and he speaks out, he is seen as powerful. This is why he specifies women, because that is the area that it happens most, and it is the area that needs to be improved upon. Yes interrupting anyone is rude, but it is more of a problem for women. So follow his message, and take notice to how many times women are interrupted. And please try to see things from a woman's perspective - maybe even take a walk in her shoes.
@hullstar2427 жыл бұрын
the reason its called feminism is because consistently women are at a disadvantage in todays society because of internalized and mostly subconscious sexism. This subconscious sexism, which i myself have been doing my very best to minimize as much as possible in my own thoughts and treatment of women, will kind of always be there, its our job as men to recognize it and do our absolute best to get rid of it. this subconscious and mostly unintentional sexism causes a disproportionate treatment of women in the workplace, school, and other social situations. an example of this is women being interrupted because from a young age men are mostly taught to be the outspoken ones in class while women are told to sit down and be quiet. Im not saying in the classroom they are told this specifically but I have noticed this personally in my life and I notice that I too interrupt women disproportionately. With the exception of my job as a resident advisor, my other jobs such as working on a golf course made me very aware of this sexism. I am a very skinny and not very muscular at all. I was hired at the same time as a girl around my size and I was given the more difficult jobs such as mowing and she was giving the jobs like planting flowers and such. it wasnt until 3/4 weeks later until they felt she could mow. I was probably equally as helpful as her physically and yet they trusted me to do the work because i am a man. I asked around before she was given the mowing jobs and people told me "they didnt know what to do with her" which was very odd because they immediately knew what to do with me, someone who is probably not as smart as this girl (she is going to what i believe is a more prestigious college than I) and we both have the same body type. so I am not saying im better than you and that is never my end goal here. I really just would like you to understand that in order for it to be called equalism or something along those lines, women would first have to be on a level playing field as men and they are not yet. The examples i gave are only a few of the things women deal with literally on a constant basis. So much so that the women who dont consider themselves feminists feel like they arent issues because thats the way things have been for women for so long.
@lukesimbajon96327 жыл бұрын
My teacher said that equality isn't right, but equity is. She said if you are in grade like 5th grade and you have to read a book, there is one person that can read at 7th grade level and one at 3rd grade level. It wouldn't be fair, by giving them 5th grade book, you have to give hem what they need in order to achieve the same goal. It's like college, why go to an expensive university and get the same education as a local one college.

Exactly. The whole "same work, different wages" was BS from the start. Men generally work more dangerous jobs, they get paid more. Period. As you said, if women got paid less for the exact same job, men wouldn't have jobs anymore.

Women aren't hired more often than men for the same reason they are paid less; they aren't respected as much. What your saying also makes no sense, because companies can choose how much they pay people.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of everything you do. I follow you on everything and you are a huge inspiration. I grew up with a very feministic mother so naturally I believe there is a problem with gender equality among all the other things that you guys show and you do make a difference. Keep doing what you're doing and thank you.

putting a gender lens on anything in politics is sexist by definition. View people as humans not as genders and put everything through the lens of humanism not feminism.

Different issues affect men and women differently. Obviously we'd love to live in a world where everyone is equal, but that is not reality. It is necessary to keep societal inequities in mind when approaching different issues.

equality will only be accomplished if you see both genders equally, everything else is sexist by definition. It really really couldn't be more simple.

feminism is humanism

no they are two separate things. Humanism isn't about identity politics.

Too many celebrities and influential people bend the meaning of feminism to the level of "feminazi", For example watch Ben Shapiro vs bruce jenner and 2 other women

suggest you Go and look up each political ideology and learn as much as you can...then go look up how the monetary system exactly works and all the components of it taxes/public debt/ government debt/investments/how the forex market works and how governing government's play a role in all of it and what actually sets the price of our currencies! Then go watch Justin in the house of commons during question period!
