Justin's mother is from BC, and only speaks English. I knew someone whose mother was from Germany but chose to speak to her children in poor English with a German accent. This became the first language of her children, LOL! They spoke bad English with a German accent, but did not know German.

fred i just don't want to get my hopes up and see them all ruined. People had high expectations of Obama, and he fell short on a lot of things (which imo is unsurprising, since he was handed a pile of shit). Our systems are very different than the US though, so the Liberals will be able to do all the things they want to do without the other parties poo-pooing their policies and legislation. Right now I am filled with a cautious optimism.
@fred-th4mo
@fred-th4mo 9 жыл бұрын
+JessietheLookout I think you said it perfectly. The Republicans in the States did everything they could to stop anything Obama wanted to do. But also make no mistake that Justin's last name is..."Trudeau. He was born with perfect political instincts, and he still will be a politician. He will still do "stuff" to smooth things over when he has to make a tough choice that many are not going to like. I just hope he'll be as transparent as he can. The big difference between him and his father is that he owes nothing to anybody. His father had big backers that pushed him to power. In fact, it's the Liberals that owe Justin everything, for rebuilding the party from scratch and winning on the sheer force of his info gathering on what people want, his campaigning, and Katie Telford rebuilding the party. Having met all three of them when nobody cared too much about them, and seeing them in action, they are a hilarious bunch. Butts plays bad cop, so Justin can be good cop, and Telford comes in and keeps them in line and always asks for mathematical and statistical realism. That's the interesting thing about this group. If you look at their platform, most items don't cost too much and are very much monetarily possible - if not time consuming. My only worry is Butts, who's job requires so much energy, might burn out. He doesn't work well with those who are not intellectually brilliant, so it might be hard to bring some on in they trust and lighten the load. But ya, even in the nuts and bolts of it, I have great hope for this government. just keep your hopes realistic. Justin was born on Christmas Day, son of Pierre, to deliver Canada from the great darkness. LOL. But we still can't expect him to work miracles - even if he kind of did that with the election win. :)

+Serena Smith After Harper and his far right wing brainwashed American anti-Canadian beliefs, how can people not think like that? This is 100% Harper's fault. Heck, the Liberals didn't even like Trudeau at the beginning of the campaign. Think about that. Stop trying to run the Karl Rove playbook in Canada, appeasing the far right and pissing off the rest of Canada, and Harper easily wins this last election. To blame any of this on anybody but the Conservatives themselves is just beyond wrong, it shows a total loss in what is happening in the whole of Canada.

Not to mention his $20 trillion debt, chronic zero interest rates, open border policy and stagnant growth. Americans have rejected his agenda at every opportunity. So too will Canadians with Truedough if he dares to adopt this ideological mantra of "what's good for me (and my donors) is good for the rest of you."

I can't believe we're actually seeing a PM prepare for a media scrum and interviews, discussing with advisors how best to answer and address questions, etc. Stuff we knew was happening, but that it seemed like the politicians wanted to be unacknowledged. But here, we're just . . . they're like, 'Yes, this happens, this is how it's done, this is a team effort, we discuss how to deal with media, we discuss how frustrated we get, we toss around ideas, this is what goes on and you know it does and we acknowledge that you know it does'. It's somehow remarkable.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. Just the fact that he seems to love people, interacting with people and being in the media is a welcome change. It's what a world leader should do. Be out there, letting people see and hear what he is doing. Even if it weren't for all the crap Harper did, just the fact that he hid from the media so much and seemed to have disdain for working with people was enough to render him unworthy of the PM's office in my eyes. And it's strange for me to have such disapproval of reclusiveness, because I'm rather reclusive myself. But that's exactly why I admire Trudeau's openness and bravery in the social and public sphere. It's ironic that the attack ads against him criticized his lack of experience as a politician, because I think not being a typical career politician is exactly why he hasn't lost his humanity by the time he got to the PM's office. Harper did and that's why he was so unsavoury while in office. I think we need more politicians who are "just not ready".

Think of how this thing could have gone wrong. He could say something off color with his insider famous biting sarcasm, someone else might say something, things go wrong it timing, he just looks bad, he looks out of it. So many things. Yet we see everything. Wow. I'm sorry, but this is a man who says what he's going to do. He said he'd be open, and he's open. You can criticize him all you want for the equal number of women in cabinet, but it was a campaign promise. This video is just incredibly cool.

Nathan Robinson Um..I kind of like to live in the present and not make predictions or assumptions of what will or could happen in the future as though I am some sort of soothsayer. I tend to deal with life as it's happening and not what I think could happen, it keeps my 51 year old ass grounded. If it makes any difference I didn't vote for Trudeau but I can only hope he'll be better than Oprah, I mean Harpo, sorry... some sort of dyslexia type illness!:( if not! 4 years isn't that long but 10 years sure as hell was. What do the conservatives want? did they want Harpo in office forever, just as they do with their great leader in North Korea? it sure seems that way! He was getting a little too cozy there, bordering on fascism. He was starting to believe he could do anything he wanted with Canada and all for corporate greed.
