First met this dude when we went to high school together. Helped me out probably more than he realizes when I was first starting. Always been one of the coolest guys I've met.

One of the best drummers alive today. Him and Mark Guiliana are my favorites. Justin is in the group R+R=Now. They are the shit.

Can this please put to bed the notion that buddy rich was meant to be the greatest drummer ever in so many peoples view regardless of genre. I was bored of that theory long before i could see and hear next level drummers like justin tyson. This is having it off flawlessly with great technique. Not a single rim or stick clank and he's funked out his mind!

Well in Buddy's time there simply wasn't a better drummer and stylistically he is still the best ever big band drummer. A completely different language to today's modern Jazz/ hip hop fusion players.

great price point for these. The sound is amazing...This kid hits hard but I've heard them demoed by a jazz drummer (also an endorser) who played a lot of doubles and ghost notes and they played well that way also. I will never switch from Gretsch, however, if some one forced me to switch....I'd go with Canopus.....

most drummers play with shoes on, some with bare feet (including myself)... but this is the first time i see a drummer with one shoe and one bare foot :)
@slimstixx279 жыл бұрын
+familytreemusic have you never seen Thomas Pridgen???
@familytreemusic9 жыл бұрын
+Arik Coleman yes, but never noticed anything in particular, what about him?
@moo_im_a_cow9 жыл бұрын
+familytreemusic I play either just socks or one shoe on the kick and socks on the hi-hat pedal. Doesn't matter to me what are on my feet to play the drums and shouldn't even something that can limit one's playing.
@familytreemusic9 жыл бұрын
+JSJ94 mine wasn't a criticism by any mean, just an observation about something never seen before. surely every one should play the way he/she feels more comfortable and performing.
@moo_im_a_cow9 жыл бұрын
familytreemusic Understood. To repeat what the guy earlier said, I think in Modern Drummer Festival or something Thomas Pridgen was doing the whole one shoe thing if you are inclined to find more anomalies such as this. Good day to you

What Gretsch kit compares to these? The Renowns? I wish they offered a bass drum tom mount.
@manysnakes6 жыл бұрын
Nothing.
@garyjohnson49886 жыл бұрын
Mike StClair they are way above the Gretsch Renown’s. This is our more affordable high end kit. And you can order with a bass drum mount.
@ivanbajovic34766 жыл бұрын
Gretsch gives more high notes, Canopus have good low end
@underpressureman4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Im trying to find a kit for my first studio kit, but trying not to spend $5-8,000 because funds are tight. Do you think the Yaiba or Yaiba II series would be a good bet? Any other reccomendations? I could definitely go used, but part of me wants to go new just so that way I have a fresh starting point and I know there's no issues with warping, tuning, etc. But on the other hand, the used market could give me the opportunity to get something pretty good too!

@Carlo245158 жыл бұрын

@garyjohnson49886 жыл бұрын
luisilvadrums you could play metal on almost all of our lines. Our RFM maple or Birch would both work for that type of music.

@tobyvattilano78467 жыл бұрын
Salvy Evans Black Chrome heads. Bottom black ply is 7.5mil with the top 7mil. .5mil thicker than your standard 2ply and it's mounted on a thin 6 ply birch shell.

That's the way he likes his toms. He explains it in another video that he "likes them to get out of the way" because he likes playing a lot of notes.

Great drums and playing - but I just don't like these modern, dead bass drum sounds. Must be the way they are played. For example, Benny Greb can make bass drums sing. The whole kit starts to resonate with a more organic tone, when the bass drum doesn't have just a dry snap
