Home Is by Justin Vernon, released under the name J.D. Vernon in 2001.
He was twenty years old when he released the album, and had written the songs from 1998 to 2001. It contains duets of his sister Kim Vernon (Feel The Light & Morning a.m.), his brother Nate Vernon (Morning a.m.) and Sara Emma Jensen (Leave It Alone Blues). This album was released six years prior to Justin Vernon's creation of Bon Iver. This is his first solo album, and very few copies of it were released.

Justin cuts across generations. When I was in my early 20s I had the same feelings as people now have about Justin about every new album and concept of Jackson Browne. I'm a huge fan of both. In the past 2 years I've been to concerts by both. Equally mind-blowing for me. The combination of the song writing, the unique singing voice, and the off-stage inspiring personality make them both special. So check out Jackson if you haven't!

I hear Dave Matthews Band and late-90s Pearl Jam, but he had a lot of deeper influences too. The folk acts of the 60s and 70s, he even mentions conversations with his hero Ian MacKaye in an article. He has a very wide range of music he pulls from for sure.

It really fucking pisses me off that I've waited 5 fucking years for 22, A MILLION. Like I didn't know if bon iver was ever gonna put out another album and the part that upsets me is that justin vernon had other music that I didn't know. Bon iver is my favorite album of all time, i always say this but i was limited to two albums and an EP because i was oblivious. I hate myself for discovering this too late.

First of all: don't be frustrated that you found out so late. Love the fact you still can enjoy it like it's new :). And when you want to discover some more new stuff: just like trinity alilin said, Hazeltons is also really nice. And i maybe have something new for you, but maybe you already know it: the two albums from Deyarmond Edison. Deyarm0nd Edison is one of the bands Justin played in before Bon Iver. One album is selftitled and the other is 'Silent Signs'. Give them a try, i think you will love it. At least i loved it!
