Celts were in the beginning, almost all over the Iberian peninsula (today’s Spain and Portugal). The were the Phoenicians, the Greeks,Romans, goth,Visigoth,Jews ,Muslims(mostly they were natives who converted) After the “reconquista” (re conquering), Muslims and Jews were banned (thrown out). An the hole territory was repopulated with people from the north (even France and Germany). In Spain you’ll find the oldest city in the western world Named “Cadiz”founded by the Phoenicians (over 2000 years before the birth of Jesus Christ ) by the name of “Gadir”. So, the biggest civilisations of the antique world passed thru the Iberian peninsula (called Iberia by the Greeks and Hispania by the Romans,since “hispania” was,a province of Rome)Two of the most known Roman emperors, Hadrian and Trajan,were borne in what today is the south of Spain (near Seville). Is there really any way that genes can isolate Native American heritage? Say Apache or Cherokee?
@AncestryUS2 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia, thank you for the question. If you have Native American DNA, it will appear in your ethnicity results as the Indigenous Americas region. Unfortunately, current genetic ethnicity research is unable to distinguish Indigenous American tribal affiliation based on the research and technology currently available. Indigenous American tribes are very similar genetically and while there have been a number of advances in genetic ethnicity research in the last several years, research has not developed to a point where tribal affiliation can be credibly determined. However, we are continuing our research and plan to continue updating our genetic ethnicities as the science evolves.

@@AncestryUS Thank you. We are supposed to have had a full Cherokee great grandmother, my father's Dad's mother. My father's paternal grandmother: I am not even sure that her maiden name was Sarah Sweat. Thank you for the answer. My brother's dnatest showed no such heritage.

Puerto Ricans are USA colonial subjects, although Americans avoid calling them by this title. They may travel with a US passport but don't vote for president or representatives in both houses of the Congress.

We're the only American citizens who MUST move to the mainland to vote in national elections. All Puerto Ricans are a mix of black, native american and white. We are taught this so why was she surprised? My mother was half black, my father 3/4 Taino indian. I have close relatives who are very dark skinned with blue eyes and relatives who are blond with brown eyes. Most relatives, including me, run the vast spectrum of skin shades. It's what makes us the true Rainbow People.
