To be honest I get really excited to watch your videos because of how well made they are! Hmm 🤔 I was thinking about getting a similar wheel for my e63 m6 but the full carbon gloss wheel. I can’t see how the temperature safety cut off would be a thing. Didn’t know it came with so much baggage. Thanks for explaining this stuff before spending the $1500 on it lmao

Yeah from what I understand, the margins on Genuine BMW parts are razor thin. Sometimes companies are willing to break even or even lose a little on Genuine BMW stuff because having those parts available helps legitimize their store.

It looks cool, but the display seems like it is actually a worse option than the HUD, or the boost gauge you mention. I just wish the hud was more flexible in displaying other OBDII datastreams.

Great video! Very, very informative. I own an f82 and even though I wasn’t thinking about purchasing this wheel I always wanted to know about the install and functionality. Wow, those are a lot of cons. I agree that it should be the wheel being on when the car is started and manually turn the wheel off if needed. I also can see how the lights at night would get old quick. That was my main concern with this wheel and you just confirmed it. In my car I have my overhead display on with M mode on Sport plus and at night I sometimes turn it off for this same reason. Thank you for such a great video and your car looks awesome! Peace!

I love your chilled vibe! It honestly feels like you also love your bmw... Have you considered going back to an E90? I think you were in sync with that car. In my experience, I had an E90 LCI and went to a F10 M550d... Even more powerful and comfortable, I couldn't like it... So I sold it and went to a E60, M54, normal transmission and I love it so far... Even though, I still wish I hadn't sold the E90

Hey that’s a good question! Personally I like the F30 more. My original plan was to keep the E90 and drive them both, since I didn’t really need the money from selling it. But during the first month of owning the F30, I didn’t drive the E90 once besides moving it out of the way in my driveway. I decided the best move was to sell it to a friend of mine who is still daily driving it to this day.

I agree. Unfortunately the factory wiring in the steering column isnt setup to support the additional electronics in the wheel. They could have made it easier by having it plug into the OBD port rather than the computer but Im guessing they didnt want something permanently plugged in to the port

Great video as always. Gotta be honest, I already wasn’t a fan of this wheel design: my F82 already has a similar feature + the lights are kind of corny to me. Now seeing the DIY install being so long and tedious, coupled with its many quirks AND price tag, it’s definitely not worth it. Gloss carbon fiber for me thanks! 😂

What is out there that I can use on this system to have apple car play? Also in one of your videos you swapped out the I control trim piece that was silver for carbon. I need a brushed silver trim that the controller mounts in. Do you have your old one for sale? And last thing what do you prefer for coding? Wanting something that is pretty simple but does the job, coding reading engine codes and erasing. Thanks Nick
