How to make 80s style beats for The Weeknd: Step 1: listen to a lot of Japanese city pop Step 2: copy it (or just straight up sample it like he did in out of time)
@jaydiggsmusic6 ай бұрын
facts lol
@Crowncity6 ай бұрын
Yea but who did the Japanese get it from? This is black music homeboy
@RetroCollecto6 ай бұрын
@@Crowncity You’re not wrong, but the point I was making is that the weeknd was clearly trying to emulate that specific style of jazz fusion from japan, so if you wanna make beats like those, copy it lol (side note, theres a city pop album by toshiki kadomatsu that played out as if it was on a radio station with a DJ introducing every song and talking between tracks, so that element was definitely imitated on Dawn FM)

Loving your series so much! Txs for bringing the sound of diferents eras to new producers, i really love all the 80s music, i have done some records with some vintage gear and working now in a modern studio make me feelt a little nostalgic of those machines and all the workflow, all my partners use splice, and soft synths and they think im like crazy talking about the old synths and all the work to get the sound u need, but watching you make me felt safe looking the real gear and hearing it, so they can to!! and stop thinking im crazy jajajaja
@jaydiggsmusic6 ай бұрын
Thank you! You're not crazy at all. Hardware machines are definitely more fun to use. Splice and soft synths are faster, I use them when I don't have alot of time but using the vintage gear makes me more creative.
