I would like to see what companies you support for cloth shopping and why what companies you don’t and why? If they’re sustainable? If they’re worth the money and where to shop for what ? And how much should an item cost? I want to know if I’m over paying or under paying? Ect I bought a jean jacket for $25 and I guess I should’ve know better it hasn’t even been 6 months and it’s already fraying! I have started my capsule wardrobe thanks to you and want to invest in good pieces that will last me a long time not pieces that will fray soon! 😫

I love your point about telling the brain the distinctions between focussed work time and down time. It makes such a huge difference. Our brains are very tricky and will sabotage us without such instruction. I have also been stepping up my skin care and daily grooming as well as dressing attractively during quarantine/isolation to lift my spirits without sacrificing comfort. I am also about to celebrate a birthday and have planned a lovely 4 course dinner with champagne for the occasion. I've planned an amazing outfit that always makes me feel like a million bucks and solicits compliments (even though I'm dining solo). I am not about to let a virus drag me down to the lowest slovenly denominator. That level of resistance is always my choice.

Thank you, Justine for your professionalism in regards to your video production. I so appreciate your direct and succinct style of presentation. Thank you for not making your viewers watch a long, musical intro every time They view one of your videos. Thanks for not sharing your cute pets or explaining something or some noise in the background, etc. I’m busy. I want to get to the point. I really have learned a lot from you about fashion that is meaningful in my own life. I’ve become more thoughtful about how my purchases impact our world in so many ways. I’m still learning, but I’ve become more focused on what I want from my closet and how to get it. Though still a work in progress, my wardrobe is much more in control than it once was. When friends tell me they have nothing to wear or it takes forever to get dressed, I refer them to you. Thank you.

"chic isn't just the way you look, it's the way you feel". So much this! It's taken me a long time to realise this, but comfort = confidence. (You also need style, but you know what I mean)! For me this particularly means footwear : if your shoes pinch, or are so high that you can't walk comfortably and elegantly, you just look like you're trying too hard, and are not comfortable in your skin. X

Such an important distinction between statement-making about the moment, like at fashion weeks, and chic. I love ppl watching at fash week, but I also loved getting back to Montparnasse and St Germain, and seeing all the elan of the classic minimalists with their effortless undone Parisienne points. I learned so much watching them, I am forever grateful. Merci Beaucoup for this awesome vid, two years later!

I was watching your 2 and 3 year old videos for comfort ad motivation to take better care of my look and myself. These you have produced during the pandemic came to me tonight, and have been a higher level. Comfort, yes, but that there will be an end. It's April 2021. I need to start caring about this again, even if other humans are incredibly scary even after both vaccine doses. Thank You. I had my first business meeting in more than a year, and I wore make up, lightly. It felt good.

Wearing a nice outfit does so much for the mood! My way to dress up is usually just to add more accessories, jewelry etc. I generally feel more casual in more minimalist outfits, and adding more details make me feel fancier. I also consider makeup an important accessory, for example a statement lipstick can really dress up any look.

"let's say you're wearing black from head to toe" ... yup, that's me, my wardrobe is 100% black. It's also minimalist, slightly more formal than necessary (I just love shirts okay), and somewhat androgynous although I do have some very feminine clothing that I enjoy wearing from time to time. Wearing all black has made me recognize and appreciate materials, shapes, cuts, textures of clothes. Before, I had no sense of fashion, I wore blue jeans and ill-fitting T-shirts. Maybe I'll introduce color into my wardrobe in time, but my horizons have been widened with how much variety there can be with only one color.

I took my mother to Paris when I was 22 and all I did was watch the women and observe what they were wearing... I love to crochet. After years of crochets a variety of items, I am able to look at a crocheted garment in a store or magazine and copy it without a pattern. I can then reproduce the top/skirt/scarf/hat in the color and fiber that suits me. I choose natural fibers mostly and think of how the color fits into my wardrobe. How the yarn feels and drapes is so important. I'm also petite (under 5 feet), so creating clothes that actually fit me is empowering. My goal is to move toward sewing my clothes or buying what I want from thrift stores.

agree about texture: one of my favourite looks is something 'casual' with heavy, architectural design in the texture, eg super heavy ribbed jumper or dress, usually needs some nylon to support the wool or cotton; or 'pleats please' type pleating; or the weird quilted texture eastern europeans liked in sweatpants and tops for a while

ooh, just was thinking maybe paired with a muted neutral apart from black like a taupe. i guess it depends on the dominant colour in the animal print? don't look at animal print as a animal print, think of it as a pattern to complement like you're looking at the colour wheel. as for jewelry, depends where you want to go, myself, i love semi chunky bangles mixed in with gold bangles running up my forearm. ive got a gorgeous turquoise (sleeping beauty turquoise) oval shaped bangle done in the style of marquetry and has mother of pearl inlay interior. cost me a bomb but i love it dearly and i pair it with multiple gold bangles and bracelets and i love the effect❤️ also, id go impressive earrings and simple necklace as your neck is part of your torso which has the animal print on it. one of my fave outfits i have is a high waisted black skinny straight leg jeans, fitted black jersey knit top with slightly blouson low v neck, a vintage dark dark brown fake fur (back when fake fur looked real or it was a good faux fur) with ehru collar, 4 inch python stacked heels and a cute rose gold anklet. so yes, black top and bottoms, but, textured dark brown fur jacket pairing back with python heels.

Thank you! I've been wearing comfy clothes while doing remote teaching for the past month, and just yesterday I realized I needed to make more of an effort with my wardrobe during "work hours" just for myself to feel professional again. Your tips came just in time. I was wondering, however, if you could address chic outfits in hot weather. I live in south Texas and summer is officially here. 85 (Fahrenheit) is the average temp but its already been 100 (is going to be again very soon). It is so hard to find chic/professional summer outfits because most people assume summer outfits mean vacation. I've only lived here for four years (before that I lived in a very cold state) so I'm still trying to build a summer wardrobe that isn't just running shorts and t shirts.

Thanks for a lovely video, Justine! I'd also like a video on a minimalist, androgynous style as was mentioned in a few other comments.

I love this kind of video! It's so helpful to see your process in creating - or curating - an outfit, because it's easy to feel that it should just be intuitive, and if you don't already know exactly what to wear with what then you're a lost cause.
