This video tells you your strength & weakness, the strategies you can use when dressing your body type and which clothes (tops, pants, skirts, dresses...) work well for your body.
Famous rectangle shaped celebrities shown in this video (models usually have a rectangle body because it is easy to fit clothes on a rectangle - as it is on a dressform): Karlie Kloss, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid.

I was told once by a man I was dating that I had no curves at all. I had never really taken a look at my body shape at all until he pointed this out to me especially the negative manner in which he said it. This made my self esteem shoot down so much along with the fact that he was always comparing me to other girls that did have big breasts and big hips. He would always say that he wished he could swap out my hips for another girl's hips which he would see on the street. I was rather young and dumb and wanted so much to be in a successful relationship that I accepted this treatment from him. Since then it has shaped the way that I looked at my body :( That was 9 years ago and I've carried this with me ever since. You really changed my perspective and brought my self esteem up so much. You wouldn't even be able to fathom how beautiful you made me feel. I feel worthy for once and I just wanted to say thank you for your amazing choice of words. You are gorgeous, yourself, inside and out. Please keep doing what you do. Much love from Texas.

I had the hardest time figuring out which body shape I am. I have finally decided that I am a rectangle. The reason I had trouble deciding is because so many of the descriptions online for a rectangle didn't fit me. Things like, small bone structure, short, etc. I have an extremely thick, large bone structure. And I am quite tall. I recently lost weight, and so I honestly didn't know what my waist would look like, I didn't know I didn't have much of a waist. I don't really look like a model because I am so thick, so proportionally, I don't look like so many of the pictures of models. I have quit comparing myself to models, if I ever did. They just don't help at all. I don't relate at all. So I have developed my own style that works for my lifestyle. I am a farm girl, in this horrible humid heat. I can't wear fancy clothes, not practical. So whenever I make a run to town, usually the feed store, grocery store or thrift store, I throw on a dress I made. I make them from cotton tshirts or women's stretchy shirts. I make the hem line flare. It makes a comfortable dress, simple, monochromatic. Then I make a very long scarf that I wear as a long vest. It fits my style perfectly. It narrows the waist visually, and I can throw one on easily, and they are super easy to make. And they are light weight, which is much more bearable in this heat. It also helps to look put together. They are vertical in the front and horizontal in the back at the neck and hips. Basically a big loop. I've had several people stop me and ask where I got that cardigan.

I'm a rectangle and everyone has always told me I could be a model but I never felt comfortable in my own skin because I was the only rectangle around and I felt so out of place lol. The advice to not wear skinny pants, but rather the straight leg ones is spot on! I have never been able to wear skinny jeans except for one pair. Generally my most comfortable clothing is a spaghetti strap tank with jeans ranging from straight leg to wide leg.. I also love a-line dresses and skirts. It adds flow to my basic straightness. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that racer-back tanks help my chest look more full than it actually is lol

I am a rectangle, classic style clothes. Instead of going monochromatic, I add a subtle pattern on top or bottom that has one colir in it the same as the rest of the outfit. ( eg: black pants and long cardigan. Top various colors, one if which is a small amount of black in it) I get compliments all the time when I do this. THAT was YOUR suggestion from a while back! Thank you!!!!!

Something I have noticed when I dress myself is that, we have the freedom to choose either lose top tight bottom or vise versa because we can highlight either part. However, I avoid wearing tight top and bottom together because it makes me look like a little girl or a stick so to say (Unless I'm going out in a bodycon dress at night). I also find this body shape the most common amongst Asian women.

Yaay! Just subscribed, great channel :) So I'm a rectangle too. The one thing that I love playing with is androgynous look. So straight jeans with loose fitting T-shirts are amazing. If I'm not super feminine, why even bother. Pro tip: shop for jeans in the men's aisle: they're better quality and have the straight cut. Men's T-shirts often have nicer patterns, and men's (or unisex) sweaters are more practical (I lived in Moscow, so I'm an expert in warm clothes!) Also, you'll probably get better quality for less money, and have some fun looking at the shocked faces of some shop assistants ;) When I want to look more feminine, I wear maxi skirts, they really flow and elongate the body even further and make me feel like a princess! Also, pencil skirts, with a real accent on the waist, and maybe a softer blouse instead of crispy one. For inspiration, look at Tilda Swinton, she's also really tall and thin, and really gets this gender-bending thing. Also, Keira Knightley! Look at them for tips on how to look great without showing your breasts (most of us don't have much anyway ;P).

yess!!! all of this, basically if I use loose shirts and pants I lose all curves but with a waist accent my body gets femenine af haha. I do all these things and can confirm, it's really cool and fun to be able to switch between feminine and kinda boyish looks like it's nothing

I'm a bit late on that one but I've evolved from 8 to rectangle (thanks, puberty and sedentary lifestyle!), yet I'm also quite short and not really lean anymore so I really struggled to find anything flattering on me. Here are the few useful things I've found with time: - If you don't like to wear asymetrical shapes or patterns, just try to tuck only one side of your Tee or shirt in your trousers. - Like straight trousers, (high heeled) boots that are slightly wider at the ankles tend to flatter more than ankle-fitted ones to balance the figure. - heavy, yet fluid clothing is 100x more flattering than regular cotton etc., especially when it come to tops, so I always go for viscose or similar (I don't wear silk) fabrics. - dresses with pleating on one side are the best to create a waist that you don't have, and they're so classy anyway :)

Finding pants and jeans that fit is nearly impossible in that size for someone in their 50's. I would look ridiculous if I attempted to dress like Kendall or GiGi, lol. I've had better luck at 2nd hand or consignment stores, then have a seamstress take in or let down the hem. If you could give ideas for where to find tall and smaller sizes it would be wonderful.

I would like to ask you for examples and advice on more mature woman, also please find examples on everyday women, not everyone wants to look like Hollywood. Beautiful day to you!

Your videos are amazing! Thank you for celebrating every body shape! My measurements are 97cm, 80cm, 97cm so I am guessing I am a rectangle shape and what you have explained in this video really makes sense and now when I shop I am going to make sure I keep these tips in mind!!

Loving your videos. Stumbled upon them and love how straight forward they are. I'm a dietitian (lots of science), and my husband was teasing me that I like the videos because it is "objective" fashion instead of the usual "subjective" descriptions. I've been trying to figure out my body shape. I measure 40"-33"-40" with my shoulders being 41" and I've always felt a little like an inverted triangle (i.e. self conscious about my upper torso/bust/shoulders). However, measurement wise I was generally close to an hour glass (maybe an inch off). But then came 2 kids in under 2 years and now I just feel confused. haha Now I'm not sure if I'm an apple or inverted triangle, and to make it more confusing I put my measurements into a body type calculator and it said I was a rectangle. Where do postpartum lose-skin-like-you-can't-believe bodies come in? I'm back to my prepregnancy weight and my arms and legs are very toned, so I'm thinking I'd be an apple, yes? Any additional style tips for lose belly skin? Because seriously, the love handles that situation can create if clothing is done wrong is just scary.

I would love to see more in depth about coordinating with pants for rectangular shape. I have lots of lab classes and also internship in the vet hospital so I'm stuck to them. I always think my legs look like 2 sticks while the top looks way too big (yes I'm rectangle I'm even a little smaller in bust)

I find that I might not be a rectangle just a very very small hourglass. Usually I look best in tight fitting clothes that highlight my small curves.

I’m a rectangle, and I like that my hip and shoulder width are balanced, but I don’t have a very-defined waist. I like to use classic tailoring, nipped at the waist, to give me the illusion of a narrower waist. I avoid boxy, straight and oversized styles, like those blazers that have been on-trend for the last two years.

This is a great video! Thanks for so many ideas! :) I am very petite (5'4) and thin and I find that most clothes either looks like it just hangs on me or accentuates how thin I am because of how tight-fitted it is. Do you have any ideas for someone like me? :)

Former Inverted Triangle, then with slightly wider hips morphing into a rectangle, but with the added issue of being slightly shortwaisted. Am I now an Apple?? Would love to hear your take on shortwaisted. Love your energy!

Justine, I sooo enjoy your extremely informative and engaging videos. Thank you. I was hoping for a video on a difficult body type to style.....mine. I am an older gamine towards natural woman with a rectangle shape standing at 5 ft. HELP!! My body and height seems to be a contradiction in terms of how to style and dress it. I’d like to give myself a curvier shape without making myself look shorter but still dressing in a sophisticated and classy manner related to my age (54). I am tan but believe I have a neutral undertone (blue and green veins) and an oval face shape, short hair (wedge) and I weigh 115. I am in the process of getting rid of all of my clothing and would like to keep enough for a minimal capsule wardrobe. I would appreciate ANY advice. Again, thank you for your time and expertise.

Thank you Justine, I am from Asia and with rectangel shape. It is so sad that there are many kinds of Korea and Japan brand whick specially design clothes for the other asian women body shape. For the long time I feel deeply disappointed in wearing these kinds of the clothes, it makes me feel much more fat, now I really wake up and know I have a gift to be a model and dress like a model. Thanks.

As a teen, I thought I was a stick with no curves until I accidentally discovered fitted shorts, shirts and body hugging dresses. I had no idea I had any shape. Regular shirts hung off of me like I'm a walking hanger. Clothing that hugs or is at least slightly fitted, give my body shape. I have more shape now that I'm a mom, but I still wear fitted clothing. I also find low rise pants are the most flattering because they emphasize the hips.

I think I'm a rectangle but with a little white girl bubble butt that pokes out in the back. Closet thing I have to otherwise non existent curves. This video gives me the confidence that I've been on the right track when it comes to the wide range of shapes and styles that I like in clothes, and that I'm not doing it "wrong" by using such a variety of things.

Great suggestions. I hadn’t thought of asymmetric, but immediately can see how it would work well. So true about jeans. The problem I have with clothes is height. I’m 5’9” with long arms & legs. Moderately priced clothing is often just a little too short, and the lines are off. It requires a lot of shopping and trying on to find pieces that look good. Ugh!

Hi Justine, I have a question. According to my measurements (75, 60, 90) I am a triangle but I still very thin because I'm 1,73m tall. So I normally feel more like a rectangle. What do you think is important in dressing my shape? :/

Justine, thank you very much for your videos. I recently through thorough measuring that I'm a rectangle body with a Rectangle/oblong face. I am quite overweight with double scolioses curves. They compensate but I still look off kilter. Also I have a short neck and a short torso and longer legs. My head is round with a flat head in back and I have blue/purple wrist veins with a somewhat sallow/yellow face tone. My torso is pale as a ghost. I wear a beige foundation and I would like to put together a few classic and stylish outfits. I am grossly obese and I just want to feel good iny skin. Thank you much.

I just found your video!!!!! I have a question, what do you consider someone who is rectangular (narrow shoulders, no waist or hips) with a large bust (and only 105 lbs)???? I have a hard time finding clothes that don't make me look like I'm 14 and have implants!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your gift with others. DD
