Iceman Cometh Challenge 2023 Race - Wave 3

Iceman Cometh is a point to point race that starts at Kalkaska City Airport and ends at Timber Ridge Resort. It occurs the first weekend of November each year and is an absolute riot! This is front/rear footage starting in wave 3. My Wahoo froze at 23.5 miles in, so no on screen ride data after that point. Start temp was 32 degrees with no precipitation. Ended up 1:54:41 and earned an age group podium spot - 4th in age group. Great day to race. I was on my Trek Supercaliber with Light Bicycle/i9 Hydra hubs and Sram X0/XX Transmission drivetrain. Peter, I'm watching the 23 sisters stampede once again. And yeah this is the best one I've seen you do yet. The backwards camera is stellar. You were rocking and rolling. You're 176 beats per minute. Right now 20 mph on a really smooth road guy right behind you 42 man. What a cool video. Thanks for posting these Bob

Nice job and great video. I was wave 2 and you passed me between sand lakes road and broom head road. After the sharp left turn, I remember hearing you behind me. I grew up in Jamestown back in the day, not much hill training down there😂. Keep it up I bet you move up a wave or two next year!

Small world. Great race day. That’s also why I was working hard before I hit Anita because climbing skills are weak. Yes, can easily do a 40-50 mile ride with only 500 feet of climbing if that. It’s unfortunate. Looking to move up waves for sure!

Nicely done! Biking videos are cool but seeing the data overlay really helps get a better feel for what's going on out there. I have a GoPro Session and have messed with it on the back but never put it together with the front. Cool to see!

Really nice video! Thanks. Adding to my IM play list. A lot more wipe outs than I am used to seeing. But then I'm starting 9 waves behind you. So not as fast. Ran with Maxxis Aspens last year. 24lbs. What have you found does well for this race?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I ran Maxxis Aspen 2.4 for the race. This year, I’ll run Maxxis Aspen ST 2.25 or 2.4…maybe something else if it ends up being muddy.

Thanks Keith, appreciate that! I use Wondershare Filmora to prepare the videos themselves (front/rear camera overlay). Then, VIRB Edit program by Garmin to pull in ride data, create data layout visual and line up timing with video footage.
