Why does God care who you date? Those of us who have grown up in Christian homes have been told for our whole lives that who you date is such an important decision. But does it really make a difference who we decide to date? Does it really matter if they're Christian or not? In this video, Emily and I share some thoughts on why God does have specific advice on who Christians ought to be dating.

It's all about the yoke...even within your own commune (church) you have to be equally as vigilant as you would with people outside. You'll never find a perfect match within your commune, but with guidance, you'll find someone who compliments you.

Dating is more than time spent with someone you love but a time of growing. I haven't dated in years and I'm 18 (I may regret but not really bc my heart never got seriously broken.) I'm not ready to date. Personally I have so much to learn about myself and build from the solid foundation of Jesus Christ that I couldn't manage a healthy official relationship. Being single isn't always a bad thing, pros and cons. Yes, I would love to meet bae (maybe I already have) and love her like Christ loved the church; however, I'm not ready. Not trying to practice for divorce. I may consider what your dad said about dating, pretty cool and your friend gave some real advice😎 You too are amazing. Love you guys! I think the biggest thing you forgot to touch on is that God intended relationships between each other to help each other grow, not only in fellowship but also in discipleship to Him as well. It is important that you choose wisely out of the select number of Christians who can help you grow or will be with you and support you every step of the way. My biggest thing growing up as a teenager at this time is: I tend to look past the background. My only criteria is that they at least believe in Christ as their personal savior and then I almost put it aside and forget about it. As most other teens I deal with lust and things of that nature and I know God doesn’t like that, it’s just hard to put it off because it’s just what I’m used to seeing all of the time. Another thing: the Bible says to not be unequally yoked with light and darkness. I think that even if you aren’t dating you should choose friends who, again, can support you in your faith and sometimes it’s good to be a friend to someone who isn’t saved so you can lead them to Christ while not inheriting their poor behaviors. Thanks for the amazing advice though and I appreciate your guys’ opinion on the matter! God bless you guys❤️

I really appreciate this angle on dating as a Christian. It's not just about being with the person God approves of but that He actually cares about your happiness. Thank you for this video! Also, these verses have helped me so many times when I was tempted to consider being with someone I should not be with. 2 Corinthians 6:14 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Proverbs 4:23 - Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.

I think it's good for teens to date multiple people to have fun, get to know a variety of people, figure out what they might look for later on when they're ready for a more serious relationship; but I don't think it's wise for dating (at any age) to involve intimate touch. Too many people seem to think this is the point of dating because otherwise you're in the "friend zone," but I think that's a mistake and often leads to regrets, heartbreak, and misplaced priorities. I also don't think teenagers should date one single person and have a steady boyfriend/girlfriend, as at that age, those relationships are rarely going to last until they're ready to marry. I think it's better to wait for a committed/steady relationship until one is ready to consider marriage.

I suppose to carry out the purpose of being fruitful and multiply. How can two walk together lest they be agreed (if they agree at all haha)? Make whole fruits and multiply than take a limited number of fruits and divide it’s value. If a house/kingdom be divided against itself, that house/kingdom cannot stand. I suppose for me, it matters who you date, the company you spend time with especially intimately, could more often than not divide your fruitfulness/value/potential, or multiply. God gave Adam help lol. God gave a brotha some help 😂 Praise God for being the best wingman.

Wow! Funny how you interpreted my dating advice. Personally, it would have been better to just ask me, "What do you mean?" I could have saved you a ton of confusing/conflicting words of advice. So let me clear the air...."date around". Codeword: you're not ready to settle down! "Date around" = you need to develop and mature before you get serious with a woman. "Date around" = the current one is not the one for you, maybe you should date someone else. HA! But honestly, when you started talking about Emily, was I just as excited about her as you were?
