The APX is a excellent handgun. You can tell Beretta put a ton of time and effort into the design of the APX. The molded frame is built very strong and will easily last a life time compared to the cheap frames on the Sig P320. In my opinion my APX is superior to my Glock 19 and easily on level w/ my HK VP9.

With Beretta's special pricing, you can get guns from the APX lineup for around $300-350 max unless you're planning on getting the tactical version. I personally have a cheap but reliable Mossberg Maverick as my home defense shotgun and I absolutely love it. Got it for around $120 new a few years ago and it has never failed on me whenever I took it to the range. You can probably find better deals on it today or for substantially cheaper on the used market. I've seen plenty at pawn shops. Total for the APX and a Mossberg Maverick would probably be cheaper than buying an M&P 2.0 without any special rebate deals.

@@HorsepowerDr Thanks for letting me know. I don't own any pistol with an optic mount so I was around for the best deals. I was leaning towards getting an IWI Masada because it's optic ready and has a serialized trigger module (in case a compact size grip frame ever comes out) for $400. I remember the version of the APX that's optic ready and came with a threaded barrel was closer to $600 when Beretta first announced their special pricing so I didn't even bother checking agaib. At around $500, I'd rather stick with Beretta for $100 more. Again I appreciate the info.

Here it is 7 years later... and I just picked up a Beretta APX from my local fun shop. I had it shipped from AIM Surplus = it's a NIB with all the goodies, unissued Brazilian LE surplus pistol. $299+++ - I haven't had it to the range yet but I like it already - really feels good in my hand. Sights are nice and big for my old man eyes. I've seen that these tend to need an "on" hold which is fine as that's how i like them. Thanks for the review!

I think your comments regarding grip texture are subjective. I find the APX to be perfectly textured for me. Nice positive grip, without tearing up skin, and stays put for me when I shoot it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Talon Grip fan as well (have them on a G43 and an XDS-40), but I just don't find it necessary on the APX. Overall though, a well done video. Thanks for taking the time to make it!

Another great video and review. I would like to say your professional opinion is a big factor in the majority of my firearm purchases today. your m&p 2.0 review has led me to the purchase of a m&p 40 2.0, m&p 9mm 2.0 and a m&p 9mm 2.0 with the 5 inch barrel. now I am going to give the apx a try. I did not purchase the vp9sk due to the fact I have a p30sk le edition with the v1 trigger. thank you for such great content and your contribution to the 2nd amendment community is greatly appreciated.

I think that the time has changed. Glock's reign ended. Today there are many good striker fired pistols in the market, all have the same level of quality. It is not correct to say that one is better than the other. He became a subjective theme.

Honestly neither of them is better than the other one in any field or have dealbrakers so they are on par, for me the deciding factor was my nation, Italy, and the fact that i can more easily get parts and assistence here on beretta products, while if i lived in america i would have bought the M&P

as always .. solid comparison. In a perfect world I'd just buy both. I really don't see how either would be a bad choice. Both are solid pistols from two of the most trusted names in firearms. I've handled both, the Beretta felt better imo. However, that texturing on the m&p is second to none. On a hot day with sweaty hands it wouldn't be close. I have a older .40 m&p and I always liked that "beaver" tail and how it felt in hand. The Beretta, while not as obvious, almost gives me that same feel. Anyway.. appreciate the comparison.

That's not really a proven statement. My m2.0 is the most accurate 9mm I've ever fired except for my Sig Legion P226. Accuracy between polymer based striker-fire guns is very comparable. I also had a Gen 4 Glock 19 that was about the same accuracy as my m2.0. I do like the Berretta and have owned the Centurion version (more compact) but I did not feel like it was as accurate as the M&P. BTW the M&P trigger is fine. The APX trigger is different but I would not say better at all. As he pointed out the weight feels the same. The m2.0 grip texture is incredible. The noticeable detractor for the APX is the thickness. It is noticeably thicker and not as easy/comfortable to conceal.

Justin Opinion....... Thanks for this video. I believe that the Beretta is the "sweeter" of the two. Maybe I am a little more prejudice as both sets of my Grandparents came from Italy. :) :). The "grip" zone of the Beretta is better. I definitely am in LOVE with the modularity of the Beretta.

Thank you and, please, keep including the "trigger reach" measurement. This is important for me with my miniature hands. I have an M&P 2.0 because I traded off my FNS9 to get it, primarily due to an inability to comfortably reach the FNS9 trigger (also due to the thickness of the grip?). Anyway, great job!

Jake Lonergan, if you are looking for a really good gun, that is comfortable for those with smaller hands; check out the CZ P10C, if you get a chance. I wanted to dislike that gun, because of all the industry hype; but it's truly a good gun.

That’s pretty interesting that you shot the Beretta off hand better despite preferring the ergos of the M&P. To me that means the ergos actually are better for you shooting wise. I guess that’s why you need to actually shoot guns to know what works best for you and not just go off what “feels” better. Plus maybe different types of ammo would give different results for accuracy on the bench. I would bet money that the APX is just as accurate with a different load. It’s really splitting hairs. Good video as always.

I own both the Beretta APX and the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0. Both are great pistols, and both are very dependable as well as reliable. And to most gun enthusiasts, both are quite aesthetically pleasing and have excellent ergonomics. The tiebreaker for me was on the range - I found the Beretta to be much more accurate! The Beretta is definitely underrated, it isn't as popular as the Glock-19, but it's just as accurate and has much better ergonomics. The only other gun which can compare to the Beretta's ergonomics is the HK P30sk.

I'd rather have the APX with the better out-of-the-box trigger and better standing groups than the M&P 2.0 with a poor trigger that needs a bench rest to group well. And I do. But mine is the Centurion model. 🙂

Good review but I gotta throw out the "APX needs a Talon grip" nonsense. Other reviewer doing a 3 gun comparo between the APX, Sig P320 and Glock 19X said the grip texture on the APX was by FAR the most aggressive and it's pretty much unanimous for all other reviewers that the ergonomics are superior on the APX, including the grip. The gun pours into your hand, and feels very good in it, and it stays there.

I no longer own any M&P's other than my Bodyguard, but unlike most people, I like the M&P trigger a lot. The only problem I had with it was how short the trigger reach is. In other words, my former M&P9's trigger pull resulted in zero sight picture disruption virtually every time. In fact, I don't think I ever experienced it. However, because the trigger reach was so short, I felt it wasn't as good for rapid fire (for me and my hands, because my finger had to come back too far). As far as just squeezing off shots, it's great. The APX looks like it won't have that problem, but does the trigger pull as accurately? It's like with Glock, there's a lot going on when you pull the trigger, so you have to work a little harder to eliminate the sight picture disrupt in my opinion. That said, I carry a Glock 26.

Beretta: what else?

S&W has made revolvers with excellent triggers for ages and yet the M&P triggers still suck. strange but true.

Do you think they will make the apx in .45?

No, but it would be nice for those of us who have a whole bunch of 45 ammo lying around. It currently comes in 9mm and 40.

Can you explain what point of aim means?
@traeucity6087
@traeucity6087 7 жыл бұрын
David Dickerson, point of aim is the point on the target where you place your front sight. For instance, placing the top of your front sight at the base of the bullseye is known as a 6 o'clock hold. Covering the center of the bullseye with your front sight is known as center point of aim. 12 O'clock hold is putting the top of your front sight even with the top of the bullseye. Point of aim is just as it sounds. Point of impact is where the rounds ACTUALLY strike. When your point of impact consistently, but uniformly varies from your point of aim; a sight adjustment of some sort is necessary. Hope this helps.

Trae UCity.... Thank you for the information. I struggle with consistency. Being a relatively new shooter, I am still learning recoil management, and gentle trigger pull. I understand sight picture but recoil of my 9mm caliber choice has been a struggle on my more compact gun choices. My G17 seems to be the easiest but it's significantly too big to consider for CCW. I have been recently trying a 2 thumbs forward approach to my shooting grip but have not had a chance to try it out live fire. I am proficient enough to hit the silhouette area of the target fairly consistently but I want to tighten my group patterns. Thus why I was wanting to analyze what I can do to sharpen accuracy.

David Dickerson, you're welcome. As with any skill, continued practice is what is called for. Erase the term "trigger pull" from your vocabulary. Train your mind to embrace the term, "Trigger press". It's a psychological thing. Groups that are left or right, are due to trigger manipulation. Groups that are up and down are due to breathing. If you will get your front sight on target, then apply steady, even pressure on the trigger, so that you are somewhat surprised when you achieve activation; you will overcome the anticipation of the recoil. Just focus on the mechanics; instead of anticipating the blast. Things like weighted guide rods and barrel porting can help; if all else fails. Keep at it; and stay consistent! A really great instructor, put it as simply as this..."Put your front sight where you want the round to go; and don't do anything to move the front sight from that point."

M&P 2.0 or the P10c?
@carolinabackwoodsgunclub6089

LOMROB id get the 2.0. The CZ aint all the greatness everybody is harping. Try to push the mag release button with a full mag in it. You will need both thumbs. The controls on the m&p are just better. They work as they should...with one thumb.
@JacksonWalter735
@JacksonWalter735 4 жыл бұрын
Are you still deciding between the two? Since the previous reply that you got, the newer CZ P10Cs have fixed the mag release button getting stuck/being hard to press (a new design mag and they made the P10C's mag release button reversible instead of ambidextrous). If you are looking at the gun straight up, I prefer the P10C because of the trigger, less aggressive (but still great) grip texture, and extremely low bore axis. If you want to customize your gun and fit it with plenty of accessories, the M&P blows the P10C out of the water. While the P10C is building up it's aftermarket support, I don't think it will ever match the M&P line unless they somehow get extremely popular. With the M&P, you can spend more money to customize it to make it a better shooter than the P10C. On my M&P 2.0, I put an Apex trigger in it, replaced the sights, replaced the stock barrel with a ported one (that's in gold), and lightning cuts in the slide to reduce muzzle flip. You can customize a P10C in a similar manner, but your options are severely limited

I agree. Straight up the APX is a better gun at a better price, but if aftermarket support and customization is your priority, the M&P line blows the APX out of the water.
