I have a friend who has groomed dogs for 30+ years. She recently posted about breeders promoting Labradoodles as low grooming care. The article showed how heavy their grooming needs are. I was shocked.

I'm super excited for you!@ But, Doodles are TONS AND TONS of hard work!! They require daily grooming and training and will be at LEAST twice the size of your last dog. Just be prepared. As a pet care professional, I have found that most people don't research doodles enough and are terribly unprepared for the amount of work they require. I know groomers who spend HOURS stripping down doodles who aren't groomed correctly at home and their undercoat gets matted and they have to be shaved to the skin. Please just br sure you are prepared. Definitely start with a good trainer right from the start no matter which dog you choose!!

A Labradoodle will be alot of grooming, so be prepared for that if you go that route. I use to rescue and I've had a hundred dogs go through my home. When I went to get puppies, I got boys. I love boy dogs! Do the training, do the training, do the training! and then more training/socializing. Congrats

Oh my goodness, new puppy?? Yes! Can't wait, I hope it all works out for you guys. Also wanna say, what a brave young man Josiah is to keep up with the polar plunges. He's tougher than I am by far, talk about building character. Great video, thank you for sharing!

Im a groomer in my opinion Say no to doodles need lot of grooming not a good farm dog they also would bother animals they lots health problems because breeders don't do health testing they need be shaved every 4 to 8 weeks, with as much mud and poop they need brushed every day and washed and blow dried they matt easy

Thank you for all you document. Can you show or make a video maybe you have. A video about how long you keep fresh milk, what to do right after, making cream and butter etc. A whole cow dedicated video.

So sorry for your loss Dory. My mother passed away this past spring, and I found a lot of comfort in escaping alongside the Rhodes family every day. I am young and didn't get the time with her that I wanted. Nothing can be said to make it better, but stay strong in your grief. I'll add you in my prayers if you are a person of faith. Much love.

So happy to have found your channel! Been Starting to research different ideas and videos of others homesteading and farm lifestyles to implement at our new home. We'llbe starting from scratch. I have ideas of what I want but it's fun to see others. Your family and videos are fun and easy to listen watch. So many other channels are boring and full of nonsense. Not y'all.

Justin, can you do a video on your lyme disease please? I may be suffering from chronic lyme myself but I live in Florida and lyme is not prevalent here so finding a “lyme literate” doctor around me is proving difficult! Also, I was tested and negative but have read that chronic lyme might not show positive on a test for some reason or other! Thanks for sharing!

I like that you are going to get a pet who will be a great farm addition--I love the aspect of keeping the new dog inside as well as training him or her to be with you outside when necessary. I think the Rhodes family will be even more healthier in 2020!
