Add solar aeration for the pond, or a solar pump to make a waterfall.. will improve pond hugely and reduce algaes. Also you can make a methane actual power generator off the algae, but it is complex to do

We need to do this for our pond as well. If you have any resource info that would help us in sourcing and installing and aerator it would be appreciated.

There are so many methods as there are so many different situations brought on by so many variables... 1000s of types of algae, varying degrees of nutrition inputs in the water, pond bed, and from runoff or input sources...Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potash, Iron, Sulphur, Copper, Magnesium, Oxygen.. .etc. Remember Algae is a plant. You don't want to manage it with chemicals, but by nature. I do agree that aeration can be a good part of a solution. But, what to do with that water? It depends.. fountain, waterfall or a small 4'×5' (~20sqft) adjacent naturalized water garden(smaller pond at a high spot so you can have a small low spillway or culver pipe(but that will get clogged) that can allow the pumped water to reenter the main pond) the little pond only needs to be 6"-12" deep that you add water plants, sand, gravel, rocks, stones on bottom. The little pond acts as a natural filter. That will will be a haven/habitat for frogs, dragonflies, crayfish and perhaps minnows(if added) that over time on occasion they may accidentally become feed your bass too. Now, this is not THE SOLUTION.. but a solution idea that does work well in some situations. More than likely there will still be some skimming involved in the big pond, but not as much with the naturally filtered oxygenated water. Good Luck with project # 4082 lol😂

If you are going to put in a big bass like that, you'll need a lot of food fish. Get some tilapia to provide feeders and help with the algae. You may want to buy a few thousand minnows or shiners. They can be shipped by mail.

Justin, you guys should try what I do with my pumpkins and see if you like it - roast halves in the oven, cool remove seeds and scrape out of skins. You can puree the flesh with a stick blender if you want it smooth and freeze them in silicone muffin tins, freeze and use in smoothies with pumpkin pie spice vanilla protein powder avocado and spinach. Sooo good! Then you could eat what you grow 😊

We did the tomatoes thing, Hydroponic style and we grew them by the thousands, but the prices were a killer, $1 per KG, we could not even pick it at that price. We had Istraeli backpapers picking and we had to let them go after week two. What a shame, we fed tomatoes to the cattle for a few weeks, straight out of the cooler room. BUT the moment we said Tomatoes for FREE even people we did not know showed up for their share, LOL!

Leave your green tomatoes in a paper with one banana and they will ripen faster, but being on the vine isn’t necessary for it to Redden
@vanessarheadart9708Ай бұрын
Yep once they start to go lighter the ripening process has started, from the inside out. A sunny window will help incourage sugar development but they will be fine off the vine. Banana trick is good for a stubborn avacado too(night before you need it, together in a paper bag(not in the fridge)
@ceebee2555Ай бұрын
so now they would need to grow or buy bananas for their 80lbs of tomatoes and individually wrap them all, just for them to do what they would naturally do on the vine? sounds very counter productive.

I mean, they would need to plant a lot of trees for potentially, on average, 3 houses. That takes a lot of space. Plus, they should have started a years ago if they were going to help the two oldest. Would need a lumber mill, sealing and drying time. Doesn't seem very practical and also a huge bet if they even stay on the property.
