I think this episode format is the best ever. Even better than podcast. Very calm, informative, and hands on. Just two men sharing knowledge. It’s like when you have a buddy that has some knowledge you don’t have and you ask him for help and he says “sure drop on by”.

The way that you explained the rotational grazing was by far the best I have heard yet. And I have read many books and watched many videos. But you really made it simple and doable. Just what is needed. I think we were on the right track but you broke it down to just the size that we needed. We are looking to get two cows. And this is the first that I have heard for this size operation! Thank you so much! And it was great to see Mr. Nick there too!

I would significantly prefer him to JD Vance. I just dislike the guy's positions on women's rights, and Nick is definitely more reasonable and sane in that field. He, unlike many conservative men who are way into politics, has a happy family and loves his wife very much. I am not too sure about every member of the party being as morally upright and reasonable as he is.

Next time someone asks how much land is needed for a cow, Justin, remember the standard permaculture answer: IT DEPENDS On the quality of grass, of course. on grassland, you need 4 acres per cow, or 4 acres for each cow/calf combination .. if you can graze them on less, you are wasting good land growing beef .. Get sheep for your personal meat and dairy needs, and use your good soil for growing more than just grass. Hard to do when you already have cattle, but its easy to say "learn from my mistakes" instead of letting someone go on and make the exact same ones. This is more of an error on SMALL homesteads - ten acres and less - than on oversized acreages, where an extravagance like a cow on crop land doesn't bite into the homesteader's other, and arguably more vital needs. Now, I haven't physically inspected Nick's homestead, and so I could not advise him to graze two beef on two and a half acres of HIS grass - but I do know that Nick is not exactly the average homesteader, either - he can afford a few mistakes and extravagances that the average viewer can't. OK, back to watching .. how cool is it, you got Nick Freitas, my second favorite Virginian right after Patrick Henry, to stop by to visit your farm! (edit) Loved hearing Nick's Hog Hassles .. Pig is a powerful animal .. I don't know of anyone ever being eaten by their cows! "Something is going to die" Sounds like my mantra on livestock .. you have to be able to accept the realities of nature, and the extent of your responsibility. More Cattle, more Money .. but More Money, More Problems. Don't let your joy become your burden!
