Awesome love that song. I never thought of doing it in drop D. When I was a kid I learnt that by ear and in standard tuning 8:22 I did that walk down the same as you but just did the bar chord F up to bar chord G for a similar sound.

Neil's Gretsch White Falcon has an odd stereo output- according to an old interview I heard him describe that guitar having the 3 bass strings output to one channel while the treble strings are on the other side. Kindof explains the difficulty of figuring out which guitar parts are Neil in the recording...

Thanks for the fantastic lesson Justin! Also, thanks for the recent lesson on "One of These Days". I use your general guitar lesson videos a ton, but for songs I normally prefer transcribing or using tabs instead of videos. But I love how your videos show all of the subtleties that I miss when I'm learning through songs on my own, so this was a really good watch.

This is another lesson for Cinnamon Girl that uses drop tuning. Very interesting. I'll definitely pay attention as I like to play this song at open mics, so I'm always looking for new ways to approach the song. Somebody else used an ES 335 for the guitar, but I'm still gonna use an SG.

Great lesson. Great tone. FWIW I wouldn't worry about your guitar selection. His original "Ole Black" actually doesn't have humbuckers but a P-90 bridge and alnico staple neck pickups. Much brighter and closer to single coils than the thickness of the quieter humbuckers. Gibson switched to Humbuckers the last half of 1957. I actually owned a first half of 57 Black Beauty/Fretless Wonder in the early Eighties. Sigh! The one that got away.
