Been playing guitar for 50 years and when learning songs, "just getting somewhere close" was always my first option, improving the song you went along. Nowadays my fingers won't stretch as far, so learning the easier way is what I do now. Keep up the good work.

Justin, your love for music is really inspiring. It helps to grow my love for music and also other things in life. For the past few months, I have been practicing and playing at least once or twice a week. I can see my guitar skills improving. Thanks for lessons. You are the music teacher most of us won't see face to face in real life, but if I ever see you in real life, I must give you a hug.

great vid justin, just one small remark if i may, some parts you explain very thoroughly and some you kinda skip, sorry if it is visible on the video clearly, i am half blind so it makes it a bit trickier, but what exactly is going on at 6:20 between 5th and 7th fret? i understand the F power chord and hammer on, but i seem to have missed audio cues for the gradual build up in between 5th and 7th frets at 6:20?
@JustinGuitarSongs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Beowulf, thanks for the positive response, sorry if some aspects are a little unclear. I have made tabs available for all 600+ songs if you're interested: www.justinguitar.com/tabs On the part at 6:20 ... There are two slightly different sections. All notes are played as eighths apart from the pull-off at the end which is as sixteenths. 1] open E string x2 7th fret A string 6th fret E string open E x3 E string 1st fret pull off to open E string 2] open E string x2 7th fret A string 6th fret E string 5th fret E string open E x2 E string 1st fret pull off to open E string Hope that helps. Justin , I really dug the pep talk !! Well done done man. I am a guitar teacher in Vancouver Canada. I only teach beginner classes, and quite often I refer to your lessons to prepare my own [ someday I'll shoot ya a few bucks for that. In the mean time....Thank you very much sir. ] I have shown all of my students your pep talk from this lesson. My students love you , and enjoyed your pep talk, even though none of them like, or want to learn Metallica . Be proud of yourself sir, the people of the world enjoy you and your talents. Someday they may award people like you, 'till then, consider this my and my students' trophy to you. Cheers ,Se@N McDonald .

Man, the tip you gave at the end really resonated with me. I’d been thinking a lot about not stopping myself from enjoying music by playing my own version of songs I love. Thanks for saying that! Deep down, I felt it wasn’t wrong, but I’d never had anyone say it. I started your course a few weeks ago (I'm 38 years old and have a bit of experience with acoustic guitar from when I was young), and I always try out some riffs I like. Sometimes, I think, 'I'm a beginner; it’s not wrong to enjoy the sound, even if it's not perfect-it's what I can play right now. Your videos and course are awsomes, thanks!

I completely agree with the comments near the end about "just play something close" if you love playing a song. I love playing St Cecilia by Foo Fighters and while I know it's not exactly what the Foos play, it's close enough thatnmy kids recognize it and I can play along with the track in my basement. Cheers!

Hi Justin! Great lessons, nice songs, really motivating! I started with your web free course like 3-4 weeks ago, gave it some tip after using it for some days (and liking it a lot) and then I bought the smartphone app. Fully recommended to everyone, I can see a step by step improvement, and enjoy my songs sounding less bad (don't dare to say 'sounding better and better' :) ). IT would be awesome to have some of more metal stuff in the course. Keep it up!

I struggle with the second riff with the barre chord. ( shortish fat fingers) Getting the G to ring is hard. I actually find it easier to play it like the first riff as single fingered notes. BTW. Great lessons. Been a follower for some years now. Like the new approach and the pragmatic tips. More enjoyable to play something 90% right that sounds fine to someone listening than not play it at all. Remember, even Jimmy Page didn’t play all Led Zep songs “ correctly” when on stage.

As an absolute beginner greenhorn i decided to tackle enter sandman a week ago and have been struggling with it ever since. Probably should have figured out how to play it correctly by now but i'm not giving up even if it takes 6 more months to figure it out. By then i will probably be so disgusted with my inability to play guitar that i throw it in the closet and take up a new hobby. Being a beginner really sucks!

We have all been beginners. And many beginners burn out and give up by trying to play their passion-songs. Which prove too technically demanding at first. Can I recommend the Beginner Course www.justinguitar.com/classes/beginner-guitar-course-grade-one and then you will have a full structure and path to follow eventually leading towards your target of playing your favourite songs. Small steps take you there. Cheers 😊 | close 2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum [ justinguitarcommunity.com/index.php ]
