Justin, I love you and you’re the best teacher, but this was a nightmare to follow. I must have watched the second half over 100 times and I’m still not sure I got it. Can you do scrolling tabs at the bottom like other KZbin videos or at least put some notes on screen. Not to mention that it’s impossible to follow the counting. You stopped putting it on screen.

I’ll admit I had the exact problem, I ended up making tables by hand: Column headings were: String, finger, fret. Did this for each section of the riff. Made an additional list of the different sections: G to Em, Em to G, A to Em etc. to help me figure out where we actually were in the riff (I was marking the sections off as I was watching the tutorial). In others words it was pretty confusing for me as well from the second half onwards BUT it made me realize I’m pretty good at puzzle solving ahahah by writing all of this down I realized what was going on in the riff as well. I’m one of the course users and this is in module 8 / beginner phase 2 and I’m following the lessons in order so I think understanding this video is quite challenging for this level. Anyway I agree that Justin is an amazing teacher and I’m so happy I’ve found him, his course is the one I’m dedicating most of my guitar practice to :)

Brilliant guitar instructor; and for us tempo-challenged, superimposing the rhythm on-screen (like at 7:39), is a huge help!
@blazejp06013 жыл бұрын
This is why Justin's tutorial are my favourite. There's too many guitar tutorials on KZbin which simply ignore rhythm and beginners usually have trouble understanding rhythm by ear. I've been playing for a year and I still struggle with difficult rhythm patterns and Wish You Were Here is definitely a bit confusing

Great lesson as always. My favorite part is how Justin explain everything, the different paths and wich you should take based on your level. It's great that he shows the rhythm slowly, but also explains how works and why it works like that, so it's not like "this is like this because i said it is". And you can always come back while in intermediate to learn and practice the more advanced stuff. :)

Hi Justing. A friendly suggestion is to add a small delay to the start of your video to let us get set up to play along. In this song it's not possible for me to press play and be ready in time to play along. Loving the courses so much though, super super well done!

Well this certainly has been a challenge but one well worth the effort as there is so much to be learnt from it. I do have some musical grades on flute/sax but two hands doing different things at over 75++ has been in a different league but provided great practice at picking individual notes and ringing the changes in strumming patterns to mention just two benefits. I suffer a low threashold of boredom, that is why I have started the guitar 7 times at least, but using the app and playing songs where the tempo can be adjusted and this exercise have kept me fully engaged I am not saying how long I have been working on Wish You Were Here, it would be too embarassing but it is definitely worth the effort. Thanks Justin! Is there a finger picking course if and when I finish the beginners course?

I'm loving this lesson, so I subscribed for the Tabs, but the tab doesn't seem to be the same arrangement . It could just be that I'm not very good at reading tabs, but even the 1st bar notes and strums (the D-U-UD) seem different than the video. So are the Tabs not necessarily the same as the lesson?

Hi Justin. I know you probably won't read this but l agree 100% with your mention of listening. I was trained and became head chorister in Durham Cathedral so had to learn theory etc. I learnt, self taught, the bass then the acoustic guitars. At 71yrs old, l run a little weekly guitar club in the local pub (2 mins away from home) and learn 1 or 2 new covers each week, all done by ear, ie listening. I find too many guitarists are desperate to learn theory but if you can tap your foot and count to 4, learn the chords basically, then marry the two together!! Merry Christmas.
