I lost my son in 2017 at the age of 15, he was a musical genius, at 15 he was on stage playing jams from Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Hendrix, and so many others and was making his own music in his room, I was amazed at his talent. Today 12/28/2020 I picked up one of his old traveler acoustic Yamaha Jrs for the first time and got on KZbin and found you! I love this song it hits home. I never thought I could learn how to play it. I'm currently learning how to play it thanks to you, and for that I'm so grateful. This is how I will keep my son's memory alive and will always maintain that connection with my boy. I wish you were here son!

Charlie, I too lost my son. He took his own life during a difficult breakup. He was not a musician but he loved music. When I play Foreigner or Floyd music he is with me digging it. Keep that connection Charlie , keep playing the songs he loved! And thank you Marty! U are an excellent axe teacher!

He'll tell you things like "its not too difficult" "we'll have fun doing this", but if you go to other teachers on youtube you'll find'em telling you how technical and tricky the same exact song is. Motivation is what makes marty unique, He'll push you to believe in yourself, thats what makes him one of the most successful teachers. I owe this to him. He taught me alot. Still.

I think it just depends. If you want to hit all the same notes and samish rhythm it’s not too bad. However, if you wanna play it just like Pink Floyd it’s a bit harder.

Gotta say it...at 57 I am an intermediate (at best) guitar noodler like many out there. I'm not looking to exactly replicate what these axe-masters perform, I just want to be able to play the songs around the proverbial campfire and sound decent. I have dabbled into many tutorial pages on KZbin and you, sir, are by far the most understandable and easiest to follow. You teach a perfect medium between being too simplified and overly intricate. Kudos, and thank you a million times over!

I started watching this and decided to try to do it by ear a little. instead of 5th of the g I just went open e after the 3rd on the g. I know it's in the beginning just thought maybe it might help someone just starting with slower fingers like me. 5th of the g and open e are the same note anyway so doesn't hurt to try a little variation

Thanks for the lesson Marty, I've got it eventually 😀 Because I jump from songs half completed to the next one. Someone told me work on one song till you nail it. I'm a beginner self taught & watching you on you tube. Thanks Marty 👍😎✌️

Marty, thanks a zillion - no, make that a squillion - for making this channel. I’m a 54yr old beginner, and so far can play Blackbird, Rocketman, and this (almost - slowly will do for now), thanks to you. Great teaching skills Marty - I can’t help saying “let’s break this down and zoom in” at every opportunity! 😆

Thank you Marty , you are my best teacher I've never met!!!

I would say you teacher is doing the right things..Actually he is teaching you the backbone to build the other songs easily with those boring songs. Even in piano true stuffs are most of the time boring. Some can’t come over boring stuff but some does, so they become great musicians

I’m pretty much a beginner on guitar, although I’m playing drums for about 10 years now and know some music theory stuff. I gotta say I’m incredibly thankful for this, it really helps and I’m especially happy because I can practice playing the guitar with my favourite band. Thanks a lot & greetings from Germany
