Merry Christmas! I made a huge mistake... I thought I had another week to celebrate the holidays, and now I'm out of time! I have to do EVERYTHING Christmas in two days! We put together a holiday list of Christmas essentials and then tried to pull it together to get in the Spirit of the season! Christmas lights, chestnuts, Red Ryder, holiday classics, and more on today's episode of Randomland!

RECIPE~! "Vin Chad"
put 1 bottle of Frenchy Vin, Two oranges worth of the orange rounds (with peel if you like being bitter), Three cinnamon sticks, a splash of maple syrup or 2 Tbsp of sugar ( or both depending on how sweet), 2 tbsp honey, 8 whole cloves, two star anise into a pot. Put it on medium til it boils, then roooll it back to baaaarely simmer for at least 45 minutes, up to two hours. STRAIN, and pour! Voila! Boiling apparently gets rid of most of the alcohol, so if you wanna make it more.. uh, festive.. some people say add brandy before boiling ... but we didn't do that. ;) This also works with non alcoholic wine :)
CHESTNUTS! The cheater way...
Grab some chestnuts, cut through the skin to make an X on the ROUND side, place on baking sheet (with wax paper if you're ally) and stick them in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 425º (and yeah, it should be pre-heated before you stick em in there)
COOKIES.... well, I've got to make sure its ok to share the secret recipe. Its virtually identical to my mom's - but check back and I'll see what I can do

I love the 1950s neighbourhood lights! When i was little, 1991 or 1992, we went from UK to spend the holidays with family in New Zealand- via a Disneyland stopover! I have such a clear memory of the flight into LAX, over neighbourhoods like that, all lit up with old fashioned lights outlining the cute little houses! Happy Christmas to Justin, Ally and all the mob! Even if it's a weird one this year, even if it's only a fraction of what you want to do, enjoy the good bits!

Those Chestnuts can be pressure cooked for 30 minutes. You need to hold them in your left hand with the flat side up. & pointed end away from you. Then with right hand & a knife. Cut on the point about 1/16 of an inch below the point. Cut a 1/2 inch slit by drag cutting with knife in a well controlled manner. This allows moisture to get in & lets pressure out. Put them in. Cover all with water. Cook for 1/2 hour. If you dont have a pressure cooker. Just boil them for 35 to 40 minutes. They are Awesome
