I went on this ride when I was 8 on New Years Eve 1987 with my uncle who passed a few months later. Definitely brings back some memories. I love all the bells and whistles! Thanks for sharing, Justin. You and your friend are awesome!

When you first started opening it up I was like, ehhh $300 for that!? And then I saw the screen playing the actual ride and now I WANT IT!!!
@justinverwiel453Ай бұрын
For real! When it played the ride I said "Ok, this thing is awesome" out loud.
@kncannonАй бұрын
Yeah, it's like at first I thought it was pretty cool, but then I saw the ride video (and interior lighting), then I knew it was awesome!
@JimWu213Ай бұрын
It’s cool but for $300 I’d want the video frame rate to be higher.
@justinverwiel453Ай бұрын
@@JimWu213 haha yea there are for sure some dropped frames but I just wasn't expecting a video of the ride at all. I still think it's worth it just for nostalgia and to have a physical object of a ride you'll never be able to ride again.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but if you plug in the base with the USB cable, the entire underbelly will light up blue from the slotted area. Also there is an another short USB cable that connects the ship to the base. This with turn the headlights on. It will also save you on batteries. Remove the batteries before you forget! You don't need them anyway. One more thing, press both buttons simultaneously inside the vehicle for another space travel scene. It's just a generic shot of stars passing by but it's a great add on... cheers!

I’m so happy for you! What a GREAT friend. We all thank your friend. ❤
@TheCoasterLisaАй бұрын
I’m glad you got this! I got to ride this (the OG version) as a young 20+ year old in ‘89 and loved the entire experience! Unfortunately, it’s totally different now. I recall Peter and Kitra from Ordinary Adventures also got it at D23 but they didn’t do an in depth review of it. I was impressed with the details inside. A kid (young and old) can get lost in this toy with their imagination! Very cool!

6:00 I think that’s the hyper drive hatch that you see R2 trying to repair throughout the ride. 10:21 the 2 buttons on the front had hoses connected to it in the docking bay, maybe for fuel?

I watch quite a few unboxing videos and you should do unboxings more often, you're a natural at this! The shots, the information, the entertainment, it's all great! Better than some youtubers who make their whole channel about unboxings.

So weird, I was just thinking a couple days ago that it really sucks that I'll never get to experience the original Star Tours again. I like the current version, but I LOVED the original, especially the comet segment. When Justin pushed that button and Captain Rex started talking, it gave me all the feels!

@bryonyamada2620Ай бұрын
The OG Star Tours was AWSOME. Unlike to todays CGI version. The OG had PRATICAL EFFECTS. Like the when the ship busted through an Ice Asteroid. You could see it was a REAL Model that they used to film it and of course we had our lovable DJREX. 8:40 WHAT!!!!! That alone is WORTH the $300 price tag. The kid in me is SCREAMING!!
@rjkralАй бұрын
Not just practical effects but a proper STORY, that ramped up and up in excitement leaving you enthralled. The modern one stops and starts too much. It's fun but the old one is better!

Splurging on childhood memories is an exception Justin lol. I always loved Spider Man growing up, especially Tobey Maguire's trilogy. So I bought myself a realistic looking action figure of him from a company called Hot Toys for $350 and I love it!

I thought this was going to be just a hallow plastic toy...I mean I was half way in already once I saw R2 and Rex....But I did not know it was going to play the whole OG ride! I would have TOTALLY bought this!!

@Cre80sАй бұрын
It's so relatable to hear you talking circles around justifying getting it, but dude, you shouldn't need to. So long as you can manage to squeeze it into your budget and storage/display space, this thing is so you. Even with your vintage only constraints, because this is as close as it gets. If there ever was a playset with your name on it, it's this. If only one was made and sold, it still should be yours. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing, especially in your harrem-scarrem excited way. What a fun video, happy for you!

I think they need more attraction toys. It would be so cool if Disney made a Muppet Vision 3D figure set!
@burneyboys02Ай бұрын
Oh Dude, I lost my mind when I found out about this!!! An OG Starspeeder 3000 playset is literally any OG Star Wars/Tours dream. I still have my Starspeeder 1000 playset from the last decade, but it doesn't even close to what this has to offer. Especially, when it has the original ride film. I think Disney hit a home run with this one and I wish I purchased one myself, but 300 BUCKS?! If my pay grade wasn't so slim...😰

Ten years ago I bought a working r2d2 ...it probably one third the size of the original. It takes commands and can move easily on wood floors. Built in are scenes from the first movie, audio and a light that it used to play tag. Now that was 250 dollars so I would say the price is right on yours.

Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing other, "unboxings," like this, you did one with a Ghostbusters play set over the summer or in the spring that you had recently acquired, which I enjoyed, even though I actually graduated high school some 2 weeks After the original movie hit theaters in 1984 here in the U.S.,so age-wise I was a little bit beyond the point of playing with toys by then. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing you show off some of the various toys and action figures you gotten hold of in your life over time, just for the sake of seeing them. Not really much of a collector of such things myself, never really got into a lot of it, some of it I was just too old for by the time it hit, some of it I just didn't have much patience for as a kid, never really got much into playing with like Barbie dolls and whatnot. Don't know why but I seemed to find stuffed plushie critters and baby dolls more fun to play with in my childhood, for whatever reasons, but I just like seeing what other people are into collecting and the reasons behind why.
