The string/rope is used to make a melee weapon but they only came with the other versions of Joel and Ellie. By "making a melee weapon" I mean that The Last Survivor figures come with a pipe and 2x4 which can be modified by adding the rope/string. I saw a review of what comes with part 1 Ellie's things on a channel called Make A Path Presents so you can get more knowledge on the previous figures. He reviewed part 1 Joel too.

You should definitely search for the first game cctoys figures they are 2 of my favourites from my collection. Also if you are getting Cctoys Ellie 2.0 you should consider the MToys version also as they have made the better head sculpt for her. The Mttoys ellie is a great figure
