Interesting vid, mate. I'm an Australia mechanic of 19 odd years now ( in my late 30's). I do a lot of street/strip motors for customers, friends and myself- but nothing in this league. The price on the engine wasn't a surprise for me, but the cost of the wiring and ECU and trans was a lot more than I expected!!! $25000 for wiring a race car that looked like it really only had the one ECU- which is great. Gone are the days where there were different control boxes for all sort of different things! And wow, $25000 on trans, convertor and bellhousing- that blows my mind. I've always wondered what a TH400 based Rossler was worth- well there you go. Being that I'm not really playing with anything making more than 1100 - 1200hp regularly, I've never really had to spend that kind of money- and it helps having mate's that own a diff/trans shop that look after me. I thought I was paying big bucks for them building me my trans at trade price around $7500. Thanks for taking the time to make the vid and give us normal grass roots racing guys an idea of what it costs to play in the big leagues! Boy it'd cost some coin keeping your cars running through a season doing no preps and grudge racing. I have no idea your schedule, haven't seen much of your stuff yet. But I enjoyed what I saw tonight, so cheers blokes...

Man, I really like your stuff. I am just trying to go in the high 4s or a consistent 5.0 S10 and my G body wagon. I do bodywork for a living. It's hard to do for a guy like me, because I'm not a hustler or a liar, I work every day to pay my mortgage, I don't have a lot left over! I know Pat and Kye and Lizzy, talked to them several times. I just cant figure out how at 57 years old, working for the man, how to build a car that people can respect!!!!

Dam.... those prices are just crazy man I knew it was expensive because one of my friends, his brother is allen Johnson and I've been in his shop and he threw out some numbers here and there when I was standing in his engine build room...but I've never got a real rundown like this...that's just amazing... I run an auto repair shop and used car lot... the budget I run on, to run my entire business is less than what your Shocks cost.... isn't that crazy...I'll tell ya.... one day I'll get there..... now, my business partner on the other hand he could get right in this Arena without breaking a sweat.... but fast cars isn't his thing..he's into the real estate, buying houses is his thing.... he isn't really much involved with the car lot to much...i turn the wrenches and my wife sells the cars..which compared to what you're spending is chump change and laughable.. but like I said I'll get there and you are right...surround yourself with successful people... in the last two-and-a-half years since I've came into the business I am running, which was basically handed to me... but don't let that fool you...i have busted my ass to get to that point and I continue to bust my ass everyday.... I've gained friends that are on a way different level than people i have grown up with... you got to remember... you are who you hang out with and that is scary thing when you start to look around if you're not in a good position in life... so keep your surroundings beautiful and positive.... I will be following you and watching you race...so go out there give them hell and kick some ass....

I cant say enough good things about Modern Racing too. I had them rewire my car since it was put up for 15 years and all out of date. It's just something I run mostly on the street and nowhere near this level, but they still did a amazing job. It doesn't matter who you are like some of the places I dealt with years ago. The work they did for me was the same quality as they'd do for any of the top guys they deal with unlike the a$$ holes I dealt with years ago. Like you said it wasn't cheap, but it's flawless and they saved around 70lbs off of the ancient stuff that was in there.

Super nice video! I know now I've turn down some NIB same items! They were half price and lol the names/brands I thinking was off brand...lol! Thinks change alot since the 80's! Running mid 8's in a car of used parts isn't as scary as the 10's 66 Chevelle high boy with drum brakes. 10 seconds of looking out the vent window to see where I was going! The thing wouldn't turn at all at full throttle..lol! Your car is a work of Beauty and oh my cubic inches! Great how you show success and happiness even when things go side ways! Education in the future for us old racer. All of us including the old gang at Honest Charley's in the 80's would thing NASA was drag racing. You need a Lab Coat and pencil protector!!! Awesome!

Great video, most folks won't discuss money and I am not surprised at all about doing a car like this. So realistically you're talking about $1M for a car, spares and transportation, with the car coming in near $350-500k complete and running all new equipment. Only suggestion about the videos themselves......when you do a itemize style vid, would you put in the description or at the end a breakdown and a total?

Set up tours of some of your parts vendors. That's something people don't get to see... Real tours, not a walk through.. show metal getting machined, stuff tested, backgrounds/training of the people doing the work, (might inspire some young ones to go into the field.) All I can do is laugh when you talk about the cost, cars used to get built for the price of some of the components. A magneto weighs more than the whole box of wiring... LOL I had a business partner in the '80's who knew the owner of SuperShops, the only real national chain of speed shops, ever. They sponsored race cars, a TF, FC, and a Pro Stock team. I don't remember how many years he sponsored cars, but Harry, (owner), said it got so expensive, he decided to stop sponsoring, and just have cars built, and give them away through SuperShops. it was cheaper, and better advertising. At one time, he also owned a bunch of the major parts companies: Mallory, Mr Gasket, and more...
