One of my favorite quotes on her from Barabar Waters. I think this epitomizes what makes her The Voice. “She only needs to stand and deliver. Whitney caresses her audience with a show so intimate that you feel you’ve witnessed the public unveiling of a soul. The show is simple. Because her talent is huge.
So big that there is no room left on stage for anything other than her voice.”

Whitney is without a doubt the best voice I've ever heard. Her live performances always eclipse her recordings, which are also incredible. Her stage presence is the best too.

I remember watching this performance on the Grammys and crying from the first chorus until the end because it was just so damn beautiful. I was lucky enough to see her in concert twice and I was in awe each time. Regardless of her tragic end, Whitney is and will always remain the Voice.

no disrespect to beyonce but whitney is at a level all her own. No one could touch her because her natural tone was gorgeous but she could also use every technique to the best ability. She also had incredible ears so she knew when to pull the mic back or lean in...she had it in ALL areas and knew how to combine it...this is one of many to show that. I saw it the night it aired and was losing my mind

And have to tell you, because I've seen my Queen sing this in this video literally hundreds of times AND in concert, of course I get goosebumps but what made me cry for the first time on anyone's reaction to this performance was your facial emotions thinking each part couldn't get better and knowing ahead of time in eager excitement that you were going to be blown away about 10 more times, truly emotional to watch because your appreciation was so genuine of this....now for a kleenex lol

As great as this is. It is not even her best live performance. Her live performances are iconic (and I used that word right! LOL) I too prefer female vocalists. My Mom was the opposite of me. She loved male singers. But I do think there are male vocalists out there that are great

Agreed. Her gift was out-of this world. Below is the link to what many diehard Whitney fans consider her most epic live vocal. A rare 1986 bootleg of her live 12-min rendition of the song I AM CHANGING, originally sung by Jennifer Holiday in the Dreamgirls broadway show. Easily her longest performance of one song and terrifically exhausting. She really luxuriates and takes her time in the first few mins- to build suspense and tension that gives way to an explosive, beautiful and monstrously frightening vocal display unlike anything you'll ever hear. Equal parts gospel and opera. Be sure to wear your best headphones and let nothing distract you for 12 mins. This is an experience that requires your full attention. It's my channel, so plz feel free to comment your reaction there or here. Cheers! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j53OhWtpeNV-e7c
