Just to clarify, the plan is not to put all three in the same tank (it never was). Toast is going in a separate tank. The plan is to put Pancake in the large tank with Waffle, under very close observation. Dungeness crabs and lobsters co-exist in the wild and they don't hunt each other unless they are extremely hungry (search "Lobster vs Crab" to observe). When Waffle is satisfied, which the plan is that she always will be, she is timid even with worms. If you go to a commercial aquarium you will see multiple different kinds of predatorial sea creatures (sharks, stingray, etc.) happily coexisting with each other, this is the goal with Pancake and Waffle.

Thank you all for joining me on this journey, I appreciate the feedback and understand the concerns. I think it's awesome how many of you care about the well being of these creatures :) This tank is 265 gallons, almost twice as big as Leon's, so they will both have plenty of space, however if they appear hostile or stressed I will put a divider between them.

as big as that tank is i am not certain it is big enough to house not just 2 lobsters but a crab too, without them coming into conflict, the american lobsters, lobsters of the family nephropidae which waffles and toast are part of are very much solitary creatures, only coming together during mating season, most (if not all) species of crab are more social, but that doesn't mean they will get along with 2 lobsters, some people when intent on keeping more than one lobster in the same tank will put a net up to divide the space. but i tend to think that separate tanks are the best. obviously this doesn't apply to smaller specias like those clams and sea snails which are no threat to either crab or lobster and are generally none intrusive. but if you watch brady's videos with Leon, the lobster was really bothered by those little killi fish.

Caring for a single Lobster in this tank would be fine, You can see how well Waffle has adapted to the tank, with her excavations and rearranging of the sand and ornaments, she really likes the environment and is making it her home, the exploration is a good indicator of healthiness and willingness to eat is too. When you add the smaller Lobster and the Crab this peacefulness will be broken, it will be a constant fight for food and territory and they will all stress each other out, everytime they meet in the tank it will be an issue there is just simply not enough room. Keep them all separated and you will have 3 happy pets, put them together and you may be left with one and if stress gets the better of it they will all die.

@ Nitro GamePlay I don't agree, and I've extensive experience keeping decapod crustaceans as a hobbyist and as a trained biologist. An American Lobster that is in a good environment remains under cover during much of the day. Sustained wandering and digging DURING THE DAY are signs of extreme stress and efforts to escape or dig a suitable shelter! They are the opposite of indications that a lobster is comfortable in its' habitat! Homarus Lobsters are normally active mainly at night, when they venture from their daytime retreats and search for food, and in the case of adult breeding males, attempt to track females by pheromones. After finding prey and eating their fill (they are both scavengers and predators, but unlike most crayfishes, eat little plant material), they retire to their homes. The big risk in housing powerful predatory crustaceans together is with cannibalism of molting and post molt individuals. Crayfish farmers use commercial feeds fortified with calcium to reduce this problem, but some cannibalism still occurs. In their planktonic larval stages, Homarus lobsters are intensely cannibalistic. This declines as they reach adulthood, but they have no qualms about eating conspecifics that have recently shed and are outside of shelter. I've seen too many aquarium stores with crayfish tanks containing carcasses of recently molted individuals that had their appendages eaten off as they were fatally squeezed by the pincers of often food and calcium deficient tankmates; a pitiful sight!
Wow! I never knew Lobsters could decorate homes! I like the style she went for! 😂

@since18762 жыл бұрын
@@Letthembelightpeaceonelove rescuing something means you take it from a bad situation and put it in a good place. For example, if you see a horse and it's so skinny that you can count its ribs, you might take that horse home, give him a healthy diet and a big field to run in. Josh is taking them and bringing them home to abuse them on the Internet just so he can make money off of their suffering. I mean, he almost killed pancake right after getting it because he didn't know how to set up the tank. Then he wanted to get a lobster to put in the same fucking aquarium. Once one starts molting, the other will see its chance to go commit a homicide. He does ZERO research on anything, he never thinks for a even a moment about what's good for the animals, he just does things and hopes for the best. If you want to see someone who has rescued an animal, go look up Leon the lobster. It's this but actually done right. And you clearly either haven't watched all of Josh's videos or you weren't paying attention to them, otherwise you'd see exactly what I'm talking about, kid. And as far as boiling them alive goes, first off, you have no idea if they feel pain when it happens. They very likely do, but you can't really prove it. Also, they likely die very fast. If you imagine a human being boiled to death, it would be easily one of the most brutal deaths possible. But we also weigh at least a hundred times what they do. Most crabs and lobsters are about a pound or two, which means that the hot water will warm their core temperature up to a fatal temperature MUCH faster than it will a 200 pound human. It's possible that it could be a painful end to their life, but it's going to be a very brief suffering time. And, most importantly, they're fucking delicious with butter, thank you very much.
@Letthembelightpeaceonelove2 жыл бұрын
@@since1876 Wow, I can see that for some reason you’re very biased and also very argumentative. You’re literally arguing with a vegan right now about what rescuing someone means and what animal abuse looks like. Would you rather those lobsters got BOILED ALIVE? He’s not abusing them at all. Just because it took him some time to set up their tank? I’m pretty sure he had it all set up before he took them home too. The lobsters were stuffed by the hundreds into TINY, dirty, empty tanks and clearly didn’t get fed either and you’re complaining about him putting two into a huge tank together? I REALLY hope you don’t eat animals or any animal products whatsoever, because if you are then you’re paying for animal cruelty about 10000 times worse than what you saw in the beginning of this video when they were in the tank at the grocery store. If you’re not vegan then you DIRECTLY pay for animal cruelty with your own money. And then you eat it. And you absorb all of the cells of those abused animals (which have memories by the way) so you’re absorbing cruelty.

That’s hey my friends only make vegan food when I’m in their presence, because they know that seeing body parts on the table bothers me. Imagine if activists never tried. Be wary of Turbo Start, etc. Sometimes that might not work and you have to cycle for longer. Always make sure to test your params, especially gh and kh which is essential in keeping crustaceans who have a shell. You also need to have multiple caves in order for them to not kill each other during molt.

@motherlandbot68372 жыл бұрын
@@grantarmstrong2968 Octopuses try to escape even relatively large tanks as a survival strategy. They either suffocate, overheat under the sun, or are easy prey for many enemies if trapped in tide pools. They readily crawl overland to escape small volumes of water; in a house, this means they die in a corner far from the tank that housed them. They can squeeze through any opening large enough for their very pliable eyeballs to pass. They are also very strong for their size, and can lift weighted tank covers with ease. They will also stop filer/aeration systems by moving tubes in their efforts to escape, suffocating themselves or poisoning themselves with an ammonia spike as a result. Octopuses don't get bored without concealment in their tanks, they are severely stressed if unable to hide, because this reaction is adaptive, and forces them to find or construct hiding places from their many enemies in the wild. They are also far more intolerant of poor water quality than American Lobsters and Dungeness Crabs. I can see that you've never kept or tried to keep octopuses in aquaria!

@canitbechristine2 жыл бұрын
If you let the two lobsters in the tank you're going to have to watch them like a hawk all the time. Pancake might not be safe with them either. Lobsters do best on their own. Also be aware that giving them large items like that shrimp to eat that with all that debris being released and the amount of time the leftovers remain, it can send you into a situation for ammonia spikes down the road. Be sure to keep a sharp eye on parameters. How are the coati and the opposum? We haven't had any updates on them so far this year as far as I can see.
