One thing I love about Queen is that they did not accept the limits of genres and that there very often is a sense of humour in their music. Wonderful.

The "musical" bridge is Freddie and Roger using just their voices to mimic instruments. They tap danced on the mixing desk with thimbles on their fingers. Jollification!

This is on the same album as Bohemian Rhapsody, I'm in Love With My Car, Death on Two Legs, The Prophet's Song, Love of My Life, and You're My Best Friend. And somehow that actually makes total sense. The band was operating on a completely different level. Genius.

The variety of music seems like magic now. A few years ago I was in a band that had a wide variety of interests and styles of songs. It caused some friction when trying to put together an album. I would say it shouldn’t matter. But consensus was the way people listen now if they hear a minute of a song and it’s trip hop or Shoegaze or whatever then they assume that’s what all your songs are. Unfortunately that’s probably true.

I'm pretty sure that Queen wouldn't have been able to write a song THIS campy if Freddie hadn't been "the way he was". Sure, you can copy the sounds of the roaring 20s, but it takes a certain amount of flamboyance to give it the oomph it needs, you know? Anyway, S-tier song. Fantastic.

Hi Justin. Dave from London. Enchante! Love this piece of vaudeville whimsy from Freddie and the boys, because they do it brilliantly. It's the variety that really makes it my favourite Queen album. P.S. my song ref Enchante (should be an accent on the e at the end) is a recent song by American duo Dirt Poor Robins from their 2022 album & silent movie (!) Queen of The Night. More vaudeville fun with a dash of French cheekiness.

I once asked someone who I thought would know, what the hardest Queen song would be to play on guitar. He told me this one, so I learned to play it. The joke is that there is no guitar on here. I like this one a lot and it certainly gets the bad taste of sweet lady cheese out of my mouth. Only Queen could have recorded something like this, and Queen were always best when they were being unique to themselves before they began chasing after genres and hits.

Apart from Queen, the only other band that I'm aware of being so eclectic and diverse in styles that is akin to Queen's aesthetic, is the British band 10cc. You really should check them out, perhaps with one of my personal faves and a single, though please react to the album version, "Art For Art's Sake", which is off the album, "How Dare You", released 1976 and an album definitely worthy of your attention, then you'll understand what I mean.

if I remember right, Justin, you once did 'Somewhere in Hollywood' by 10cc?! I love that band, and felt, you started on the wrong foot with them (not your fault of course)... try 'One night in Paris, Part 1-3' (which inspired Bohemian Rhapsody); 'Feel the Benefit, Part 1-3' or 'Take these chains' 😎

Firstly, when this came up I immediately predicted that you'd like it, and I was right. So it's a funny old world, and sometimes we get it right, and I can be very proud of my own self, too, and not just of you for having such good taste. And then secondly, I think Freddy might've enjoyed something like the musical, _The Boyfriend_ , at some time and been inspired by this. (I think before the ragtime craze of the time there was a Roaring Twenties craze - and a good thing, that, too). Songs like *The Riviera* kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2baZYWPib-tpck are also much more recent than they sound. And then thirdly, (but you can go now if you find irrelevancies too irrelevant) I wonder if there isn't actually some kind of malicious deity in charge of everything, who punished Jon Ivar ("Yon Eye Vahr") for calling the current Twenties _The Boring Twenties_ by giving him a heart attack. Or maybe it was because there are possibly satanic images on the cover of the album containing *Bazooka Mirror* . Or maybe it was just because *Bazooka Mirror* is a bit loud, and the said deity didn't feel like listening to it again that night, so found it convenient to put a halt to proceedings by giving the Known Blasphemer, Jon Ivar, a heart attack. It really is quite loud, but judge for yourself if you doubt me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g33ak6B5h7lkjrc Or maybe it was because the week before there's a slight possibility (taken out of thin air) that Jon Ivar was listening to Circus Devils (which has the word "d---ls" in its name). Maybe *Mother Skinny* kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHfUf42fmcach68 ... ? ... uh ... Where am I? Helloooooooo ... Sorry, does anyone remember my name. I need to know whether to answer this message, or whether it's for someone else.

A lot of viewers didn't care for the previous track, "Sweet Lady." Well, THIS is the one I don't care for. I do usually like pastiches. For instance, I like all the McCartney songs that Lennon derided as "granny music" - Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da - though I make an exception for When I'm 64, which tries too hard to be cute. So does Seaside Rendezvous, in my view. WAY too hard. Moreover, why should there be three - THREE- old-timey pastiches on a single album? Isn't that overkill? Especially considering how broad your stylistic range is in the first place? At least Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon keeps it brief. The other pastiche, Good Company, is excellent. For one thing, it actually is ABOUT something, whereas Freddie's two are just frivolous exaltations of top-hat-and-tails high society. (See also Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy, though I think that's a better bit of songwriting.) Also, May's manipulation of overdubbed guitars in Good Company to emulate the sound of a trad jazz band is nothing short of astonishing. The vocal emulations of wind instruments on Seaside Rendezvous are of course impressive as well, but they're literally the only thing I like about the song. I can't help thinking that Freddie's interest in this kind of thing might come from the intersection of race, colonialism, conflicted sexuality and identity, etc. that he had dealt with his whole life. Maybe he's actually mocking his own aspirations of social climbing. Anyway. Looking forward to the excellent Side Two!
