Yes!! The feeling of walking into that room knowing it is secured even for just a week after not having a place to stay and having gone thru the worry every day of trying to figure it all out....there is no feeling like it and one you could not imagine if you have never been through that!

Amen also the biggest thing is the feeling of getting ahead. I remember living in my work van for almost 9 months while I worked (Reno’s) I couldn’t find a rental when I got a monthly hotel room I can still remember that feeling it was like I never lived in a house before i was so happy I was jumping on the bed I finally had an oven and microwave instead of cooking on a pot and butane single burner

"Is there anything you can't eat or can't have on it" is one of the kindest things you did for this human. So many times people think that our neighbors without houses can and should just eat whatever they can, but food allergies and religious/disability caused/other personal food requirements don't just magically disappear because you live on the street.
@ianh15048 ай бұрын
Religious convictions do. At least for muslims, if the choice is starve or eat pork then you can eat pork. Jews and hindus maybe not, theyre both disgusting religions, they probably would tell their followers to starve with a plate of food in front of them.
@pistol0grip0pump7 ай бұрын
Yes! Absolutely. I've been given so much abuse, even had food & coffee thrown at me because when people have just brought out a flat white / hot chocolate and I thank them profusely but say " unfortunately I'm very lactose intolerant but I can warm my hands with it for a bit but I'll pass it onwards to another person when they walk past as I don't want to waste anything." And they would FLIP OUT and throw it at me, cuss me out. If they gave me change and said " Get yourself a hot chocolate/ specific food item" and I'd thank them greatly and say "I'll probably get a coffee because I can't have milk/lactose, thank you again so much have a good day! :) " They'd be furious, " IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUY A HOT CHOCOLATE WITH IT GIVE ME MY F*&*NG MONEY BACK!" You see the best of people out here, but you also see the absolute bloody worst. and those good people are diamonds, so rare. I'm holding out. Stay safe all :) you're loved.

The hotel room is for sure a GREAT incentive. Without a shave and clean hair and clothes there's no hope to get a job much less keep it. You're a good man Knate!
@tdbhmusic7 ай бұрын
ooh good call. he should add a laundry card to the list of things for them. I do laundry in my town and once you have a card you can put money on it. It's kind of expensive. The smallest load is almost $5 and if you're poor, it feels like a stretch. Soap costs money too.
@308dad86 ай бұрын
You are right. My washer broke and had to wait for shipping so washed at a laundry mat. Like $18 to wash and dry a few days of laundry. Why is it so expensive? It’s not expensive to run a washing machine, but it’s outrageous to use one at a laundromat. $18 for 3 loads to wash and dry. Well kids power through making laundry. So poor and raising kids gonna cost you if you can’t repair or replace your own washer and dryer when they break.
@RighttoLeftViews3 ай бұрын
not only incentive but sometimes needed. What do you do with all your stuff when you are working 8+hrs a day. Not even getting stolen, but especially in a place where the town is aggressive in throwing all homeless camps away. Practically without a house to go to at night it can be tough to keep a job going.

I love when Knate acknowledged how simple tasks can quickly become complicated and challenging. When you have nowhere to live, few possessions or support, every little thing can become a challenge. I remember one of the biggest things was finding a place to go to the bathroom. It's little things like that we might take for granted. When people suggest people living on the street "chose that life" or "don't want to get off the street" they don't know what they are talking about. The things Knate does for these people us HUGE and the biggest gift he gives them is treating them all like they are important and valuable.

Look at you go man! Out there doing more than the states doing? They shit on these people, while you basically break bread. I really applaud you man, TRULY, from the top of my heart, you are inspirational. Goes back to a story I heard in church as a kid. A guy was walking along the beach in the early morning after a night of a disastrous storm. He was putting animals that had washed ashore, like crabs, and starfish, and other little critters back into the ocean that would have otherwise perished. People started mocking the man, saying "There's no way you can save them" or "You alone can't make a difference for them all." He picked up one starfish, placed it into the water, looked at the people, and said with an unwavering smile, "made a difference for that one." The moral of the story is, we may not be able to help everyone; but when we can, we should.

Every single time I see your videos I am in awe of your patience, Your empathy, And the grace seems to be inherent to your mindset. I have spent my whole life being disappointed and refusing to give to charities upon discovering all the darker gray ways in which they utilize the resources. Even other KZbinrs that helped the homeless seem to think it's ok to ask them To recite some story, Or withhold the money cause they don't offer up fifty cents for bus fare. People on hard times are people. And you treat them like people. Grace and basic respect don't just belong to the people in a good enough place to be on camera. Thank you for humbling me.
