I showed this to my wife and we decided I must try this bowl. I've just gotten into woodworking a little less than a year ago after surviving 2 major heart attacks including the "widow maker" in 2013 and stage 4 throat cancer in 2018. I decided I needed to get up and do something besides walking. I caught where you picked up your prototype bowl. Thank you for your service and making the world safe for my grandchildren! I am a Jarhead who was on active duty from 1968 - 1972. Things were a bit dicey then too. Thanks again for the inspiration and your service.

This is extraordinary. Never seen something as special as this bowl. You must have good technical insight and a very creative brain to come with something like this.

Just tried cutting the spiral only on the bandsaw and it was really 'dirty'. Used a 3/16 blade and was hard staying on the line. I printed a bunch to practice with so just need to work harder at it. Thanks for the spiral print. Yours turned out really nice. No way to clean between the spiral cuts so they really need to be clean.

I'm going to set aside some time to try this one out on my scroll saw. looks great, man. I can't wait to try it.
@JustMakeIt8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. If you have a scroll saw, then you can skip the cutting through the ring and drill starter holes. Should turn out for a cleaner look in the end.

Man this is crazy cool. I've never seen one before. How easy would it be for some nitwit to bump the handle and have it collapse with all my precious M&M's falling to the floor?
@JustMakeIt8 жыл бұрын
It's definitely a possibility. You could cut the handle part to be a bit longer to hold the bowl up a little tighter, but nothing can truly stop an expert level nitwit.

New subscriber here. Very cool little project! I'm about to buy my first band saw and this will be one project I'll have to try. That lower piece you attached to the base, I wonder if one could put a hidden lever in it to come out and brace the handle. This may avoid it being knocked down while your candy or what not is in it. Just a thought.

What kind of spray adhesive are you using? The 3m adhesive I have used in the past for templates would be too aggressive for this project.
@JustMakeIt8 жыл бұрын
I think I use the 3M stuff in the orange spray can, but I wait about 30-60 seconds after spraying before I apply the template to the wood. I have applied a template right after spraying, but found it too aggressive like you said.
