This is one of the videos ive been really excited to see and you definitely delivered! I was super skeptical about that rust paint on the housing but you totally sold me now. That looks super good. One of the things I mock the hell out of is guys who do a great paint job, put on nice wheels and tires, build a sick engine/trans combo, and then leave the springs/axle all crusty looking like crap. Amazing work as always dude! I do have a question and/or request though. Have you done or plan to try to do any reconditioning of parts with acid dip or electrolysis? Ive been considering giving it a try myself with my front suspension parts, especially the springs and control arms. And now covering it with that rust paint you use.
@JustMoparJoe2 жыл бұрын
Thanks CJM. I haven’t used the electrolysis. I believe rust oleum makes a gel that will turn the rusty stuff black. Then you rinse and can paint it. I’ve used the permatex rust converter before in areas, then sanded, primed and painted over it. The Devil is definitely in the details.

I would not re-use those old u-bolts. I have custom 5/8 u-bolts made up at local spring shop, I love overkill. A trick I learned with cleaning things up is to spray the rusty stuff with diluted muriatic acid, then pressure wash after 10 or 15 min. all the rust will come off and there will be no need for wire wheel.

Well you could take a hammer and "alter" the roll over on the new bolts. Plus it never a good idea to re-use U-bolts. Length easy with a death wheel. And I tend to lean more to the DANA's, 60's that is and of course the Shur grip. But a little paint n shine at least you can tell someone did something.
