If we think about it, there's a reason why Kokichi seems like a person who really wants to have friends but have trouble to doing so, if we try to see the connections between his in-game self and his (theorized) real-self. There's a lot of theory that suggested Kokichi's real-self as a nerdy, socially awkward person, judging through his behavior in the prologue. In his real life, he is probably that one quite nerd at the class who have trouble socializing with his classmates, which others might also label him as 'boring'. Knowing that Danganronpa is a famous show, Kokichi decided to take the chance to join the game show so he would become known to others, not wanting to become 'boring' anymore. And thus the Ultimate Supreme Leader Kokichi is born, whose desire to become an entertaining person still remains within himself. This is just a theory by the way. I just like to think that some of the casts real-life personalities still remains within their in-game selves: like Shuichi's shyness, Kaede's assertiveness, and Kaito's hot-headedness. And Kokichi is the one that interests me the most.

"The whole world could be playing a trick on you. But I also could be lying about that" ~Kokichi Ouma He has been hinting towards the ending of the game this entire time but we didnt know it because no one wanted to hang out with Kokichi during the free time you had in the game, they wanted to hang out with the other characters. I think Kokichi knew about the real world and he also knew that they were on a show.
