Oh geez, I love how they made the notes you need to hit for Mass Destructions go clock-wise for the beginning portion of the song, then switched it up and made it go counter-clockwise. Since the flow of time and the clock symbolism was so important P3, I can't help but see it as a representation of the game's themes. Of course, I'm probably over-analyzing it just based on this one song, but I can't help but love it.

Coming back to this after a while. New analysis. Keep in mind I only took like five ballet classes when I was younger so I’m not a fully experienced dancer or that reliable of a source, but I am using their dance styles for character analysis. Makoto: I mean, he literally wears headphones all the time. I honestly always had a feeling that he’d be a good dancer. And he does have moves. The guy is a lot bendier than I expected. Like, did he take gymnastics? He does cartwheels and twirls midair and stuff. Wow. He makes it look easy. I like how he seems pretty withdrawn when he dances, cuz after all he’s still the gloomy apathetic “i don’t care” guy we know him as, but he still puts his heart in. It kind of adds a new layer to the mostly blank slate. I also /really/ like his bond fever with Mitsuru. ‘Cuz technically Mitsuru is the actual leader and he’s the in-field leader, so it makes sense that they’d be on the same page. I like how it seems like music and dancing is one of the things that makes Makoto more lively. It’s fun. I really do hope Elizabeth does succeed in saving him from the door :( Yu: he’s a dork, but he has too much charisma and swag. Kind of perfectly characterizes his ‘Chad’ rep he has. He’s clearly having fun while he dances and I think that’s pretty neat. I love how he almost always has a smile. P4 has always been really fun despite the whole “Yo there’s a murderer killing people” plotline and I think that’s told really well via his dancing. His bond fever with Naoto is also very sweet. They seem very in sync with each other but both very distinctly themselves in their dancing styles and that’s really charming. I love how whenever Yu dances with someone, he seems to adapt to their speed or movements. It kind of ties into how he really cares about the bonds he has with people (at least, that’s what his shadow in the anime alluded to) and that he just really cares about his friends and likes hanging out with them. Yu really is one of a kind. Ren: okay, you guys can fight me on this but I’m pretty sure he’s the best dancer out of the protags. He moves really fast but really clean and he does twirls and spins all over the place, along with the body rolls and the facial expressions PLUS his footwork? Call me biased because the persona game I got into the franchise with was P5 but. My god. He’s so cool. He does have The Gentleman Thief himself as his persona after all. I feel like he’s a perfect blend of Makoto and Yu personality wise. Quiet and withdrawn, but still a massive dork, and that combined with the telltale wildcard charm. And damn, he sure is charming. I had a /massive/ crush on him, I think I still do. When he dances, he really embodies the music. And his partner moment with Makoto is really nice. They are super in tune with each other despite being vastly different in dance styles and in some personality aspects, but they both do have that same sense of justice, which is probably what makes them such good friends. Anyways, I just love the dancing games so much. They’re a treat for content and it’s just fun watching your emotional support anime boys schmoovin’.
