Honest to God, I've been looking at Brew watches for years, and I never noticed the date window until Jody pointed it out. This has to be the best camouflaged date window ever! As someone who hates how date windows mess with the symmetry of watches, I tip my hat to Brew.

Earlier this year, I saw some random Norwegian pop singer dude on TV on some show my ex was watching, and he too was wearing a Brew Metric. As soon as I noticed, I pointed at the screen and yelled enthusiasticly, "He knows!" (John Mayer reference). That's probably the most unexpected nerd-moment I've had in a while. 😅 Congratulations on your new piece, Jody. Hopefully my next piece will be an Erebus Ascent. Damn my ex to hell, if it wasn't for her I could have bought the Black Helix as I wanted months ago. I don't dare go in to check what models are left now... I probably have to wait until Pagani Design releases their Ascent homage... 😭😭😭

I was there on Friday and got to meet you Jody and Marc also, he even gave me $50 for wearing one of his watches to the fair :) NYC is only a 2.5 hour train ride for me so that venue worked out great for me. Brew was one of the brands I was most excited to visit, I bought the Brew Retrograph in Cobalt and it hasn’t left my wrist since. I wish these types of events were held more often, there’s really no other way to see and try on these microbrand watches before buying.

I was lucky enough to have won this watch in a giveaway sponsored by Barton watchbands a couple of years ago and it has been a favorite of my collection since then. Because of its shape and the strap design, it definitely wears larger than 36mm. I have made several custom bands for it and it looks great on both leather and rubber straps. You can also purchase leather straps for it directly from Brew.

Brew’s NH35 auto is probably one of my favorite watches in my collection. The design queues are just right on with the simplicity and clean look overall. That mirror finish outside of the main dial is a really nice touch; one that I didn’t realize it had until I had the watch in hand.

I really like the Brew Metric in titanium and black, but I love their 3-hander in black. Gives big time Porsche Design Chronograph 1 feels. My daughter worked as a barrista while she was at university in Boston. When she graduated, I gave her a Brew Metric as a graduation gift. She really liked the watch but found it to be a bit too bulky. I got her a blue leather strap from Brew, which is flaired like the bracelet. It reduced the heft of the watch, and now she loves it. Psst, Jody, the best bagels are in Montreal. 😊
@JustOneMoreWatch3 күн бұрын
Ha! Maybe next year?
@MosheFeder2 күн бұрын
@bullnose01, New York may or may not be the most over-hyped city, but Montreal's are definitely the world's most over-rated bagels. To anyone used to even average bagels from New York, they are repulsively bland because of the absence of salt in their dough. It's a shame, because they are obviously made with artisanal care, and the use of wood-fired ovens give their exterior a delightful touch of smoke, but once you bite through the excellent crust, nothing can make up for an interior that might as well be the tasteless stuffing from your easy chair. On my visit to the vaunted St-Viateur bakery, I was so shocked that I spat out my first bite. I guess you have to grow up eating them to sincerely think they're good. (At least, to my relief, the Montreal Smoked Meat at Schwartz's actually lived up to its legendary reputation.) For years I’ve seen loyal Montrealers popping up in any public bagel discussion to tout their bagels' supposed superiority. Given the nature of inferiority complexes, I suppose they always will. But it won't change the fact that the interiors of their bagels are tasteless when eaten without a spread or filling, while even plain, ours have satisfying flavor. (Nor does NYC have a monopoly. The bagels on Brick Lane in London are excellent!)
@MosheFeder2 күн бұрын
As I’ve already said over in Club Erebus on Facebook, Jody, meeting you and Steven at the fair was an absolute delight. Thanks again to you both for the generosity with your time on both Friday and Sunday. I take you at your word that you weren't feeling well, but you certainly disguised it successfully. I'm sure no other visitors to the Erebus stand noticed any more than I did. The only downside to meeting great people from far away is the long wait until the next meeting. SF has the answer - physicists need to get serious about inventing teleportation! I have to echo the comments from other New Yorkers about how impressed I am by the amount of sightseeing you squeezed in. Does Australia have a secret vaccine against jet lag? As for today's watch, I like the shape of the case and overall design sensibility, including the asymmetry. But I think I'd choose a less colorful one, maybe the black and gold. Finally, I was really tickled to be included among the video's photos of visitors to the Erebus stand. Thanks for that distinction.
