Watchmaker here. If you're ever working on a real 2824, make sure to put the stem in the date setting position when removing it. Otherwise you'll probably get to take off the whole front of the watch to reset the yoke and setting lever. It's kind of annoying. Also, when pulling off hands, it's always good to use a dial protector of some type under your levers/presta tool.

Thanks. Always good to have advice from a professional. 👏👏👏👏

Hey that’s what happens with the DG2813. The fix is coaxing the yoke back into its slot on the sliding pinion.
@rosomak824411 ай бұрын
It is sufficient to use a screw driver fitting the release hole instead of a punch. This will prevent you from pushing too deep, which is the cause of the problem you describe. And "dial protector" is a fancy name for some polyethylene piece.

Really enjoyed the video Jody. I haven't started moding any of my watches yet but I might start by looking at which ones I don't particularly like anymore and what I would like to change on them. It's always the strap, dial, hands or crystal but never thought of changing the movement. Thanks Jody I'll have to look at your back catalogue of Moding videos .

The second hand is by far the easiest to put on, but you have to do it differently to how you're probably doing it. I put a small piece of rodico on the end of a hand pusher, pick the hand up by it in the middle, and just push straight on one handed looking through a loup, it takes seconds (no pun intended!). After spending a good half an hour (with lots of swearing!) putting my first second hand on, this was the best piece of modding advice I received!

Congrats on reviving a Titoni! The Titoni brand itself is a well respected company here in Asia. And the fact that it is still family owned (3rd and 4th generation) instead of a conglomerate, makes it feel a bit personal when it comes with their styling.

For sure an improvement & big props for your modding skills. I've got a few decades on you and have long since decided that I'll keep the only local watchmaker in business rather than ruin more watches attempting what sound like simple mods, but actually require very steady hands, like yours. Nice.
@mCblue7911 ай бұрын
Putting on the hands has been my downfall on too many mods I've attempted. They inevitably end up bent beyond repair or embedded in the carpet across the room. I've given up trying sadly

Oh good, I'm not the only one who has issues with the seconds hand! Although, last one I did, I got it first try. Even got it on camera. I was so surprised, I picked up the movement cushion and turned it sideways to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and dumped the movement onto the workbench. Oops! It live though, still running great!

If you ever need to remove the crown on a vintage Swiss movement, it will likely have a small screw rather than a button (Japanese will probably have the button). You must undo the screw just about 1 and a half turns to remove stem, keep making tiny adjustments until the stem pulls free. If you unscrew it too far, or unscrew it all the way, the setting lever will fall out on the dial side and you are in for a world of hurt if you don't have a lot of tools and experience assembling movements.
@Islanderpr111 ай бұрын
The stem seems that need to be a little bit shorter, but in the end, it is a pretty face of a watch. And is your mongrel watch. That's why people used foxtails in the handlebars of the bicycles and colorful valve stems... to have a customized bastardized bike.
