I own this watch I and have never seen the height as an issue either, in fact I hadn’t even noticed it until you pointed it out Jody. I think this directly rivals the seiko prospex series and comparatively speaking the bracelet and clasp blows away my seiko samurai in my IMO. Also it looks absolutely killer on a black waffle strap!

Recessed crystal is a big plus for me, as it provides some protection. I’d like to see that more often. At those dimensions i’d like a 22mm lug spacing, for a more balanced look and feel. A very nice watch I might say.

Just picked this up in a high street jewellery shop sale here in NZ. I paid $399NZ. What a great watch! I can put up with no anti-reflection coating and I'm half deaf so the rotor noise isn't an issue! Having been wearing my Bulova Lunar Pilot recently, the size is not an issue. Thanks Jody for bringing this piece to my collection!

I suspect that citizen is radically underrated, this is a handsome watch for mid to large sized wrists. I do agree a little curvature goes a long way for wearability.

Totally agree about Day/Date. The thickness is more about the balance, I've got a couple a bit larger and they're fine. Nice to see more Citizens, very rare to see one of their mechanical watches in UK.

I am really excited for the upcoming citizen challenge diver pro master coming up. Similar style but titanium, sapphire, 9051 movement, and only 12.3mm thick. It will have a retail price of a grand (USD) on bracelet, but hopefully you will be able to get some discounts. If you could buy it for ~$700 that thing is really going to give the Willard/62MAS/etc some serious competition

This is one helluva watch. I think this blows the lower end Seiko Prospex range out of the water. Lume is just as good and the bracelet is infinitely better. Like you, I wish this had anti-reflective coating under the crystal, but at half of RRP for this JDM model here at an Australian high street retailer, I can’t complain at all. There were 129 of these in-store at Angus and Coote shops this morning around Australia. Make that 128 now… :) Still around 500 of these in the A&C/Prouds warehouse.

I also love a day/date...all my watches have it except one that only has the date and I don't wear it as much. I work a rotating schedule so I don't work the same days every week and I never know what day of the week it is. I wish Seiko made a higher end watch with 6r movement that also comes with the day.

I love the look of this watch. Great choice in the colors too :D I especially love bezel. The movement? Well love it or hate it, I could live with it. But that crystal! I LOVE the distortion. Not a big fan of a small-ish case size with a relatively large lug-to-lug, and a big case height though...

Awesome looking Citizen diver!! First watch that came to my mind was the Invicta Vintage Pro Diver 1953 model 31290 which is part of my collection. But nothing like the specs of a Citizen Pro Master diver. That's why the only diver from my collection I dived in the ocean with is my Citizen NY0040!

Tried this on in-store the other day, and I didn't notice how thick it was. Seemed to fit me well and my wrist size is below average. For me I didn't feel the guilt suited me. But I did love the gold bezel and the design in general.

I like that it has just enough gold too not not look too blingy (If that's a word) The only citizen I have in my "To Keep" collection is a Limited edition 300m Titanium Eco-Drive diver which is a bit thinner at only 12mm and being Titanium it weighs in at a lightweight 128 grams with full bracelet & divers extension also in Titanium. The best part - I picked it up at my local Cash Converters during a sale for an amazing $75 Aussie Dollars !!! It does have a few minor scratches but nothing a good polish & brush won't fix and none on the crystal which must be sapphire. I was one happy chappy with that purchase.

I could buy an Orient Kamasu for less money, and it has a sapphire crystal. I love the dark red sunburst model. The tradeoff is a normal 200m WR, without the 6425 "Diver's" certification. Since actually using a divers watch for scuba is a bit of an anachronism, what with the availability of inexpensive wrist worn dive computers, this seems like a fair tradeoff.

Even if you do not take it diving the ISO diver’s certification is of security of mind for spring bar durability, magnetic resistance, temperature resistance, condensation resistance, water resistance and shock resistance.

This is the first black/gold watch that has made me go wow....definitely a stunner and I can live with the thickness....My MSAR is 36mm but 13mm thick (there cant be too many with a more extreme width to height ratio). I would definitely see this on a black rubber strap.

It’s a duotone 62mas day/date with a marinemaster deployment buckle & mercedes hour hand! Tandorio makes an excellent 62 mas homage with a high beat movement & 120 click bezel. If they could upgrade the their lume & make some duotone versions with AR coating , I’m sure they could sell them for slightly more money than they charge now.

The Tandorio's crystal is too curved and it makes the dial not very legible because of all the reflections. That made me sell it. Also, someone tested a couple of Tandorios for water resistance on some YT video and the Tandorio watches failed/flooded. The price was great. If the Tandorio had a flat crystal, I would have kept it.

Good catch, even if a bit thick. Even being a bit big I think it outdoes most Seiko under $1,000. I have always been a big fan of Citizen. I think they are still (unfortunately) a bit underrated. I have both Seiko and Citizen and I find myself reaching for my Citizen far more often. I have a Promaster EcoDrive that I bought 15+yrs ago and its never needed service! I have another that got a chip on the mineral crystal, I sent it back to Citizen and for $75usd they replaced it with sapphire (per my request), so they may still be willing to do that (and you retain your warranty) if you contact them. Again, nice catch Jody, keep up the good work!

I really like the look of this watch despite its dimensions and I’d probably go for it except I’m excited for the NB6021 that is due to come out sometime in the next few months. Similar styling but with titanium, sapphire, 9000 series movement, etc. No doubt it will be more expensive but just might be worth it 🤔

I think you can take off a mill with another bezel. That one is protruding a bit over the glass. Maybe new gold bezel and saphire crystal that take off 1 mm is best mod for this one. If there is a market for it...

Unfortunately, Miyota is being pretty stingy with the hacking feature on the 8 Series movements. Currently, only the new 8315 (replaced 821A), and a few calibers Citizen reserves for their Promaster divers. The 8203/8204 is not available for third party sales, who must settle for the non-hacking 8205.

The 8315s aren't replacements for 8215s, they're closer to 6r35s with higher power reserve. Real pain in the ass to find, unfortunately.

@@elgatto3133 No, the 8315 replaced the 821A, which was the decorated 8215, with hacking added in it's later iterations. The 8315 is now the only decorated 8 Series. The 8215 still exists. Yes, the 8315 has a 60 hour PR, but they are still not considered a "Premium movement", like the Miyota 9 Series.

On those one way wind automatics if you remove the rotor and use a thick grease like what you use on pivot points when servicing them really quitting down. They still wind fine but they don’t spin like crazy like from the factory.

I might give that a go with a cheaper watch. I just remove the rotor. Solves the issue and turns them into a manual wind.

I love the over all design and the dimesions are great for me as well, even though it is unnessasary thick. I just wish Citizen could develop a similar affordable movement as the 8000 series without the noise (in your dreams lol). I own a couple of watches with it, and I personally think it's a bit annoying sometimes. Also, love that t-shirt even though I'm rather a guitarist/bass player myself. But these are legends.

Citizen is second only to Seiko of number watches in my collection. I do not like the Mercedes hands on anything other than a Rolex… I think it looks particularly out of place on a Japanese dive watch. Other than that love the watch.

for comparison, My sbdc101 weighs 165g on my 17cm wrist. The 62MAS really seems to have generated a niche market. everyone seems to make a competitor these days. Seiko got it right on that rerelease.

Handsome big wrist diver, great value at the discounted price, but is it just me or does the bezel look photocopied off an skx, looks to be the same typeface. I like the case shape and the milled clasp, fine with the bracelet and the overall thickness, I like the on the fly divers extension - great for hot days, could put up with the non sapphire, just gold doesn't float my boat and the 8000 rattle 🤮
