Most of the pilots I've spoken to all agree it has become a lousy job. Extremely stressful with paychecks and pension funds that gets cut for no reason. They all agree it's a funny and exotic life when you're young since you basically visit the world for free, but after a while it gets old. Also, you are at constant risk of losing your job. Being a pilot in the '70ies and '80ies was another story, nowadays probably you're just a glorified bus driver. Hats to these fine men anyway, thanks to them milions of people each day are able to travel safely to their destinations.

@CodPix2 жыл бұрын
@@andreaforcella1094 Some of your points aren't true. Being a pilot isn't being a "glorified bus driver" today. Being a pilot is still being responsible of hundred of passengers and the salary is still huge, even if it can be stressing with some airlines. Being a pilot isn't always lousy. It's not because it happens one time to some pilots that it happens to everyone everytime

The first time I flew that route was in 1959 as a passenger on a BOAC Comet 4. We couldn't land at Kuala Lumpur, so we had to go to Singapore. The flight time was 19 hrs 10 minutes, but we had about six stops on the way so the journey time was longer. We flew at 480 kts and 40,000 ft. I've done Australia to the UK and return via Singapore/KL several times on an A380. I prefer the A380 🙂

12:25 I don't know much about the Aviation Security Act, but is it okay to line up on the runway before the control tower says cleared for takeoff?
@televisio86529 ай бұрын
The tower cleared them to line up and wait on runway 09R. That means they get clearance to line up on the runway and get ready for departure. Obviously they cannot line up on their own regard, but in this case they were cleared to do so. Normally in super heavy aircraft like these you get a line up clearance prior to a takeoff clearance since they take a bit more time to get set up on the runway centerline and for the pilots to do their departure checklists. Hope this helps!

Its also worth noting at LHR one runway is generally used for departing traffic and the other for arriving traffic.

The banging on the nose wheel every-time the 380 went over the taxi-way centre line lights. The service crews must love this captain. Is that the prescribed way of taxying . . steer the nosewheel directly over the centre-line lights ? Or is the pilot allowed to steer an offset, one side or other of the taxi-way centre- line. Nose-wheel suspension and damping not much cop ? Can different settings be selected for the dampers ? Also the body noise and rattle seems excessive . .is this the consequence of a near majority composite fuselage ?

As Ben said, these are indeed short videos of the full 3-4-5 hour films we sell. They show you parts of the full film. For example here you see a little but about the preparations before takeoff. The actual film has the complete preparations, briefing, checklists, fuel calculations, takeoff speed calculations, cockpit set up and a lot more... But as you can imagine sending our film crews all around the world to film these and then produce them as well as equipment etc... costs a lot and in order to be able to continue making these films we have to sell them... but in the 29 years we have been making them we've never increased the price even though the costs have gone up so we really try to bring them to you at the lowest possible price. We're no millionaires but we love doing this :)

Excellent video. Thank you! Meanwhile... I don't care how good the software engineers claim their new autonomous AI piloting systems are, I want to know that the cockpits of passenger planes are 'equipped' with calm, competent, trained human beings. I like machines, but I only TRUST humans, because they have something to lose if things go wrong. Autonomous planes (like autonomous cars) can't be programmed to care; they can be programmed to APPEAR to care. There's a big difference. So hooray for AI and algorithms and autopilots and autonomous flight system technology in passenger jets - it's genuinely wonderful - as long as there are at least two real people in charge of it.🙂
