Paper 1 had a minor leak, was doable but still hard. Paper 2 was so impossible with notation we haven’t seen before. Paper 3 was leaked all over social media before the exam. 2 pages were shown and people could actually buy the paper. It was a major leak but edexcel is making out like it was only isolated to one centre so they don’t have to do anything about it. This is the third year in a row there has been a leak

I really agree about a levels being unfair- I think it’s unfair that a distinction star in a BTEC gets the same ucas points as someone getting an A* in further maths !!!

I literally was talking about this to my friends today. Me and a lot of my friends do Maths, Further Maths, Biology/ Chemistry/Physics, and it actually baffles me that you get the same amount of UCAS points for example if you get D*D*D* in bio-medical science or forensic science vs 3 A*s in maths/further maths/physics/biology/chemistry I don’t mean to be rude but I’m sure in BTEC classes they literally just copy of google/Wikipedia for an assignment that they know EXACTLY what they have to included in order to get the best grade for that assignment as they have criteria they have to include, and then that content will never have to be remembered again (this is what happens at my college anyway). A-levels are such a gamble. There could be questions not relevant to the spec/ never seen anything like it before, mistakes in exams, leaks, Etc putting UNI places and grades at risk. BTEC Students don’t even need to digest or understand the information in order to get the top grades, but for A-levels we cram so much and our content is generally harder, and it’s all worth the same credibility in order to get into uni, so this may result in the people doing BTEC’s getting into better/ the same uni’s with less stress as generally the requirements are the same (like A*AA and D*DD in order to get into a course for example). Olivia Sharpes I do double BTEC engineering (I picked it because it’s a subject I enjoyed at gcse) and a level maths. And I can agree, BTEC is so much more laid back, I went into the final exam already on AA equivalent. The only difference is the amount of time you have to put in throughout the 2 years on the assignments. I’m not sure if other colleges were okay with people copying and pasting but ours was pretty strict and checked everything. Based on the shambles of a-level maths, I wish I had done triple BTEC.

George Simpson but if you do a levels, you should be working hard all year, doing homework, writing notes, revising old content, going to teachers for help, doing past papers, etc. (if you do that though it’s up to you..) but yeah I do understand it’s a lot of assignments, but obviously a bit easier than a levels

Your comment about how the a level exams are spaced out is so true! The humanities subjects were super close together this year which isn’t great as 3/4 of my a level subjects are humanities subjects. The week of the 3rd of June, I had 5 exams yet some of my friends didn’t have any exams in that week at all. Quite a few of my friends have been super chill with their exams because their exams have been super spaced out for them so they don’t really need to cram the night before. I would prefer if we did exams over a longer period of time so I wouldn’t have to cram so much!! Xxx

Yea You could say I’ve been very lucky with my exam timetable as my first and last exam are over a month apart Physics (AQA) 20th May Further Maths Additional pure (OCR) 24th of June which I still haven’t done yet 😂

​@@justrhiannon I'd guess the maths being on the same day as your other subjects was because of the rarity of those subjects being picked together like when they make the timetable, although saying that, I had further maths, physics and comp sci all on one day (6hrs+ of exams!)

*Rant Warning* just another thing on the topic of your rant.. for biology, our college choose AQA and at the end of paper 3 we are required to write a synoptic essay which isn't awful if you take other essay based subjects - for example I took sociology and english language which are both very essay based but it isn't really fair on people who do the more scientific subjects like physics and maths as they have no other essay practice. also, it is only AQA that require students to write essays, no other exam board give their students biology essays yet everyone gets the same qualification at the end no matter what exam board you do and it's all directly compared which i don't think is really fair because they're testing completely different skills ??

I found those essays alright, since they aren't really "essays", it's just writing about topics that somehow link to the question, but you don't really have to form arguments and that. If you do, it's pretty obvious how to link them

The essay is more of a way of testing if you're able to understand how related all the topics are. Like it's a synoptic essay, not necessarily testing you on the quality of your writing (which is allocated like 3 marks). More testing you on your knowledge of the content.

Haven’t seen the video but all of the edexcel papers were leaked and edexcel have claimed that “there hasn’t been enough pupil complaints” so if everyone can email edexcel to tell them because it’s so annoying !!!!🙂 I had 5 exams in my last week with 3 on the Wednesday, I feel your pain !!

I once had a bio and history exam on the same day. Here in high school in Belgium you usually have 2 exams a day and around 12 subjects so you finish in just over a week.

I totally relate to the exam dates and how they were spaced out. I did aqa psych, edexcel maths and English and all my exams were after each other or on the same day and I had like 2-5 exams a week which was so annoying bc I would get home at 6 on some days (I live in another country so we do the exams later as we have to do it at the same time as the U.K. Students) and have to start revising and it was exhausting.

I 100% get you, maths took the piss this year, they have other papers that ready to be used in case if there is a leak, but no honey, they decided to put the paper as the exam. I finished chemistry a level today, paper 3, and honestly biology and chemistry were quite good but maths screwed me over. Like I need to go to uni edexcel 😭😭!!!!!

(edexcel) people who do bio exams are more likely to do chemistry and math as well and if you see our exam timetables, you will understand that it is actually a horror show. but then again people who do only math,bio and chem wont have 2 exams in one day, so what do i know.

Yesss!! I thought I was the only one, I had 4 exams last week and I knew a few people who literally only had one! It's so annoying how they have days to dedicate to one exam yet we have a week to prepare for four! Also how some subjects only have two papers so they're less likely to have them close together whereas all three of my subjects have three papers each! Plus none of my subjects had coursework so it all comes down to my exams😩 So happy we're finally done now, just wish results day wasn't so far away!

No evaluation needed for a describe question. Mine was for aggression but it was a similar question.

LuluHarvey Paper 1 was great, paper 2 I just went blank and I left 15 marks worth of questions blank (but hopefully I don’t drop more than 20 more), and paper 3 stats was great and mechanics I couldn’t do the pulley (I tried to prove it but I wasn’t getting the right numbers) and the drum questions. Further pure 1 was okay, didn’t like the series one and an outage of internet stopped me from double checking over revision so I couldn’t do the improper integrals one either. Core two was terrible, less than half marks and further stats went really well. Hopefully I can get As in both (75-60-55 for normal) and (50-25-60-50 for further assuming decision is okay). What other further options are you doing

I had my C34 paper yesterday and it really didn't go that well ...like in each questions, there must be a part of the question which was difficult and haven't seen before ... I kept crying after the exam yesterday but I just got over it so that I can do better in my Mechanics paper

I really liked paper one though the one markers were weird. The paper two was hard but only because one, I made daft mistakes and didn’t read the logarithm differentiation question properly, and some of the proofs were odd. The unseen notation was in the spec but it was nowhere in the textbook and since most teachers literally just used the board-endorsed textbook it was a problem. Obviously the paper 3 leak was a mess, I didn’t even know about it because I had a music exam just before the maths one. Paper 2 has really damaged my grade tho, I need an A and realistically I’ve possibly got like 75-60-60 (I’m praying for it). Good luck for everyone else, I’m sure you have all done better than you have thought. What other A Levels do you all do?

Gabija Stankute that’s why they have grade boundaries. as exam boards have certain percentages of people who need to get each grade and hence create grade boundaries from this.

I completely disagree with you over your rant about 'difficult' subjects. A subject being difficult is very personal as some students may find content harder than others. I did classical civilisation, biology and geology. I naturally excelled in classics and geology since I really enjoyed the content in those subjects but I have really struggled with biology over the last two years. You might say that I struggled because classics and geology are 'easy' subjects and biology is more difficult but my boyfriend studied biology, history and psychology and he found biology to be his easiest subject and his other two more difficult based on the need to be able to write an essay. A subject being difficult is completely down to the individual but there should no way be a need to say that 'less difficult' subjects shouldn't count for the same as 'difficult' subjects. All subjects need the same amount of work and commitment and if you do find a subject more difficult it should just spur you on to work even harder to do the best you possibly can. Everyone who does A levels works bloody hard to get the grades they want and at the end of the day everyone gets the grades they deserve based on how much work they put in. I know that exams in general are unfair as it is a case of who has the best memory in some instances but students who do subjects that are deemed as 'difficult' should not have an advantage over others since everyone is in the same boat.
