PSA - If your vehicle is equipped with lug locks, please have the key at the ready when you pull your vehicle up for service. Otherwise, techs are forced to play "where'd they hide it this time?" Sure, sometimes we get lucky and pick the right spot on the 1st or 2nd try. And then, there's those other times. It does get tedious and becomes a waste of time when it's stuck in some rando spot that your average owner would never think to put it. Then you have those people who have the unmitigated gall to be upset that we looked for it. Save everyone the hassle and just have it out and visible. Or, better yet, just tell the service advisor where it is. Either way, it's kind of a necessity to do various tasks. On a final note, do y'all realize how WE feel having to rifle through another person's ish in their car to find a necessary tool? The things I have come across that I NEVER wanted to see... yeah. Please. Save us all the cringe.

@@FP194 Which is the standard approach but putting cutting fluid on it will just make even that spin uselessly. No way to get cutting fluid *behind* the lug where it'll do some good. Then tell them to put all of those f*ed up lugs in a box, send them back to the manufacturer with a bill for solid steel replacements. Only Ford has honored that little trick - once, that I know of. Ford is also facing a lawsuit because of them when I told the wife of a man who lost a leg because of those lugs to sue. They are, but I don't know any further details.

It's easy to say "just spend the 50 bucks or whatever on an oil change" but if it's a choice between that and feeding their family they have to just get by on the hope that their car will last a bit longer. Some people just have a different level of cleanliness they’re ok with (or messiness, really). I generally clean mine out any time I get gas (so any receipts from fast food or water bottles I have in there get dumped) but other people do it different. I got in my wife’s car about a year ago and every time we went around a corner I heard a _thunk_ and I told her I think something was wrong with her car. She was like “oh, that’s a soda can in the trunk. I haven’t taken it out yet.” I asked her how long it had been in there. She was like “probably 2 or 3 weeks.” She had just… dealt with hearing that noise every time she went around a corner and it didn’t bother her at all. ADD is a b-tch.

I am Canadian, and I shoot guns often. It is not illegal to transport ammunition in Canada, and there's nothing that says "must be only to the range or hunting grounds" regarding ammo - that (British?) mechanic doesn't know what he's talking about. It's fairly common for farmers for example to have live ammo in their truck for pest control and stuff, and they drive around town all the time. Other than that it is not a common practice unless people are doing a range or hunting day. What I will say though is that it is very unsafe to just have it all rolling around and somewhat out in the open. I did see a "time to take back Canada" clownvoy sticker on the window of the truck though so that kind of tells me everything I need to know about the driver.

If your car has a severe rust problem and you think spray foam will work then you are wrong and crazy there has to be a point where it must be scrapped for safety reasons. I’m suprised that some mechanics haven’t lost it over how bad the oil is or how much rust is on a car I think we might see a big change in the near future with EVs on the roads and making sure they are coming in for matenince.

5:24 false. You can carry rifles openly in your truck LOADED in Canada. Please educate. Restricted and prohibited weapons no. Pistols etc everything there was legal and rcmp would look at it and say "I dont care dont waste our time" and leave. 99.9% of registered gun owners have never committed a crime or even had a traffic ticket

No loaded firearms in vehicles, period, but ammo can be accessible and so can unloaded non-restricted firearms in daylight. Firearms can not be visible outside of daylight hours. Also depends on classification of firearm what the specific regulations are. The rules are numerous, some ridiculous and it is hard to keep track of what is allowed and what isn't. In Canada it's hard to even tell what guns are legal anymore. Always best to be on the safe side and lock everything in the trunk these days as sad as that is.

It's legal to drive around with ammo in Canada, just can't drive around with it loaded in a gun. Most rifles and shotguns can be in the vehicle too if unloaded (although not advisable outside of rural areas) Handguns and certain rifles are the only thing we are restricted to only taking to ranges.

I used to be a member of a parachute club. In one freak incident, a skydiver got blown off course and landed in the road at the end of the drop zone. She was OK but, instead of waiting for her to grab her chute out of the road, an idiot in a Volvo (who had watched her land) tried to drive over the cords, which got picked up by the wheels. The skydiver released her chute from her harness so that she wasn't dragged along by the car. We were always told that parachute cord was tough stuff... turned out that when wound round a drive shaft it could easily pull through steel... the front of the car was cut to pieces.
