And boy oh boy, just imagine how the real Galadriel would react to THAT -- she despised her uncle more than any other Elf, to the point where he was the sole creature of their kind she refused to show mercy or kindness to. And here we have a case of a caricature of her being reduced to a caricature of him. Her armour even displays star-like designs, which were in canon indicative of Feanor's sigil/house. The more I witness of these writers the more convinced I am they can't be serious. They HAVE to be parodying the content of the books. @The Attempt has nothing to do with the culture war and everything to do with bad writing. The amount of information provided throughout a work is one of the most important aspects of writing. Providing too much exposition and your audience will get overwhelmed. Providing too little will leave them lost and confused. This show has always been an example of too little. The other issue is how much the supposed "good" has been just fluff that is used more as a cheap plot device than as a true way to build the world in a meaningful way. Look at each of those little phrases that sound neat until you actually translate them or look at what the author established. They don't do anything other than let the writers force the plot into the direction they want, which is bad writing. If your current idea doesn't work for the established world then you do something else. You don't change the world to fit your needs. So no, none of it has a single thing to do with a culture war and everything to do with good writing as well as a fundamental knowledge and respect for an established work by a previous author. You build off them not change what they spent a literal lifetime developing.

The price tag for this fiasco only makes it more of a crime that no one has been fired for the end result now airing in the public sphere.

Holy shit I had no idea they made Galadriel this vile. I remember the Discworld novel "Men at Arms". In that book the point at the end is that villains and bad people love to torture, gloat and monologue before killing someone. On the other hand, a good man who has to kill a villain will quickly get it over with. Put the bad guy out of his misery, don't give them the chance to turn the table, do it efficiently so you can get back to doing good elsewhere. Why would they make Galadriel say this. Do they think she needs to be an antihero to be relatable? If so they have gone way too far on the sliding scale. This guy is a victim of Sauron. Cruelty to the max… and she is supposed to be the good guy? Obviously Gil-Galad knew what he was doing by banishing her and her followers to the Undying Lands - he must have known that after 200 years searching for Sauron, if she didn’t find him soon, she’d straight up become him. Wait… hahaha… wouldn’t that be hilarious? Sneering “Galadriel” has been Sauron all along… the real Galadriel is strung up in a hidden stronghold somewhere watching all this nonsense through a Palantir or some other magic. That would almost redeem them for her terrible characterization.

As mentioned above in a comment, she could only be Sauron without knowing to be Sauron by now, and any twist you put in there, would feel so contrived, such a rabbit out of the hat trick, such a deus ex machina (think of where the real Galadriel must be then), that it would have to trump all the contrived stupid shit they did so far tenfold and likely turn away the last faithful fan of this stupid show left. Not Reva, but Wanda. After tormenting 1000s, killing, kidnapping, torturing and abusing she will suddenly repent and be immediately redeemed because, Strong Woman

@@philroberts8028 idk dude, I think Wanda is still on a whole different level of terrible character getting a pass because the writers don't know what the fuck they are doing. The new Dr. Strange film might be one of the worst things ever made. Those writers displayed a level of incompetence that will be unchallenged for a long time.

Our “hero” is going to keep a guy in chains, torment his children, and then kill him last. So almost exactly what Morgoth did to Hurin. So brave..

The tactical stupidity should have been obvious. I know just about shit of medieval warfare and it was instantly apparent that the tactics used were shit. The production team clearly doesn't care because anyone should be able to pick that up.

@@darianstarfrog true but it's still nice to get a fan opinion now and then. I've seen plenty of people with varying to no familiarity with Tolkien ripping it apart. It is laughably bad and the embodiment of what's wrong with modern entertainment

I think my favorite thing to come out of this episode was an edit someone did where they took the end scene of the pyroclastic flow hitting Galadriel and then tacked on the dream sequence from Terminator 2 where Sarah witnesses judgement day and gets vaporized by the nuclear blast. Ah, if only this episode had truly ended that way. Oh well, we can dream!

This sort of writing just makes me think f all those people who think it's "realistic" for super heroes to be monsters that abuse their powers to hurt people. The "if I had powers I would hurt people" types. They were basically mandated to create a super powerful woman to focus the show around and they decided she was a narcissist and a psycopath. Speaks volumes of the writers.
@TheMeta1412 жыл бұрын
actually the fact that a woman with all these powers IS a narcissist and psychopath is the real statement

@@darianstarfrog that they think that a woman with power would be narcissistic and psychotic, they may not be TRYING to say that. but it's clear that this is what their version of a strong woman is. the fact that they wrote a character like this without realising it is the statement
