I think Celine is one of those rare artist that has "universal appeal". Blacks, Whites, Asians, Latins; EVERYONE appreciates Celine vocals. And plus she's Canadian….they get along with everybody.

@emanx222
@emanx222 3 жыл бұрын
Nah that rasp was NOT intentional. Celine has the ability to turn on her rasp but in this case it was clearly vocal fatigue. Normally her rasp is clean with overtones. This was rough and uneven. Doesn't take away from her amazing performance but please don't conflate intentional rasp with fatigued vocals

I just listened to Aretha's version and i'm glad that Celine kept the integrity of Aretha's version while injecting some of herself into the song as well! Aretha's had the rasp in it as well!. AMAZING!!!Just a class act!!! I just don't see how some people can say that this version has no soul! When people have a bias against someone there's no amount reasoning to make them see through it!

I compared the version of Celine and JHud. Woowww... So different. But I prefer this one. It's raw. She's not like she's singing... She SPEAKS ... Or preach ... To us. When someone's singing feels like a dialogue... that's when you know that it's soulful at its best.

For a Celine tribute I would rather they get artists who truly admired her and were inspired in their career by her. I think that would be more touching and enjoyable to watch than getting just whichever artist has the biggest voice. Even if they couldn't match her vocal talent I think it would make Celine more proud.

Ariana Grande, bless her heart, will try her hardest. I think vocally, Beyonce or Kelly Rowland could do Love can Move Mountains. Kelly Clarkson and Adele love Celine and would do well with the Power of Love and Have You Ever Been In Love, and Leona Lewis would be perfect. Some French songs are essential, though I don't know who could possibly do them.

I don't think it was intentional. She IS 51 years old and has performed and toured extensively for over 30 years, many people seem to forget that. However, the rasp and strain just kinda flow effortlessly in this specific song, it's like a touch of soul. She sings a lot of songs this same way.

@ChrisTheAppleOne
@ChrisTheAppleOne 5 жыл бұрын
Saruman The White True. I think she picked to do it in this high key to keep it as the original, and had the rasp for both reasons... it’s just how her mid chest voice is at that repeating range, and 2, it’s close to the original key. Her chest voice when she has that range of notes, often switching between mixed and chest voice, it just ends up raspy. But luckily it helps her with the emotion in the piece... it’s very soulful, and well done regardless.
@ChrisTheAppleOne
@ChrisTheAppleOne 5 жыл бұрын
Queen Of Vegas Exactly!! It’s like a bit of both. A) It’s her voice around that range, switching between chest and mixed voice over and over again, and B) It adds a bit of soul to it. She probably knew this, otherwise she probably would have lowered the key quite a bit to sing it with a smoother voice. Performance was incredible regardless!!

It has always seemed to me Céline's voice has changed every decade, even before her internatonal english career really took off. She normally can just sound raspy on purpose but I think since René got really sick, raspiness kind of became a constant part of her voice. As an effect resulting from the pain of loosing her beloved one. I realised that especially as she sang in 2015 a tribute to the Paris victims at the American Music Award. Since then her voice generally sounds a little less cristal clear but somehow even more "mature" and bluesy. And as you said her transitions are now more sophisticated and extremely effortless; more than ever. After a long day, it's always a real pleasure to watch your Celine-reactions! Way to go

She has always taken good care of her voice and body!! So she can still hit those note. She will not drink or eat anything that will effect her vocal cords! Doesn't smoke and gets plenty of rest. That's how you keep your voice!! Oh and humidity! Renee made sure she kept her instrument in tip top shape!! And folks that's how ya do it!! What a Voice!!! love her

The most soul I have ever heard fromm a white woman. She is absolutely one of the most masterful singers I have ever heard, maybe even the best. By far, she is the most underrated member of vocal trinity. As a vocalist, she is flawless.

EVERYTIME CELINE OPENS HER MOUTH TO SING, THE WORLD STOPS AND THE MAGIC BEGINS!!! NO MATTER WHAT STYLE SHE´S SINGING. NO ONE CAN SAY WHO´S THE BEST SINGER OF THE LAST 30 YEARS BUT FOR SURE CELINE IS THE MOST VERSATILE OF THEM ALL, NO OTHER SINGER TOOK THOSE RISKS IN SINGING EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD.
