I remember when I heard that song for the very first time when the album Let's Talk About Love, was released, 21yrs. ago, I had just about lost my damn mind, it was breathtakingly beautiful. I literally shook with so much emotion. The album is one of my absolute favorites from her vast catalog of inspiring albums. Some talk about the trinity of singers (Whitney, Mariah, and Celine), however, my love of music began with Donna, then Barbra, then Whitney, then Mariah and then Celine. Those unbelievably gifted women were and are the soundtrack of my life...

And she just sang it live three days ago for the first time in literally decades. She did it in 2011 but it was lipped. She sounds incredible on it still! Same key she used to perform it live in, which is a half step lower than the studio version. She still belts out the G5s and even added an extra one halfway through in one of the performances. It would've been at about 2:33 in this video where she threw in the extra G5. Someone made a video where they spliced an old performance of the song with the new one and at times it sounds like the same performance. It's amazing. You should react to it!

When I got the "Let's Talk About Love" album for Christmas in 1997 and listened to "The Reason" for the first time, I was completely blown away. Seriously that song is absolutely one of THE best on that album. There are so many great songs to pick just one favorite, but "The Reason" is definitely in the top 5 best songs. My other all-time favorite of her's is "To Love You More". Her 90s material were and still are phenomenal (even her covers that she did).
