Wow, that Nove is really really interesting. Such a bold idea and the execution is amazing! It's not for me but kudos for the idea

Felt similar.. Great to see something different than the usual homages..but.. Not my style Kudos to Nove though

I'd really like to see the red fume dial of the Nove as a single-faced watch, with the dressy bracelet and case but without the crazy hinge mechanism.

This is why if I had a few hundred dollars to spend on a watch, I'd rather buy a microbrand over the same old boring seiko, orient, Hamilton, bulova, etc etc. Some of these don't won't fit my wrist but I love their bold designs and colours.

Nove Gemini looks interesting except that it is not automatic. I foresee changing the batts will be a big problem.

Hey Dave, love your watch reviews. I purchased the Fullgear Horizon from you last year and absolutely love the watch. This was my first purchase of a micro brand and purchased it primarily from your overview and loved the look of it. I see that Fullgear has a new Orca model range of dive watches which looks interesting. Wondering if you are able to acquire one of these Orca models for review? All the best to you and family.. Happy New Year!!

Love the design of the "Horizon Fullgear" and I really like the Tritium gas tubes luminosity. I first "discovered" Tritium in BALL Watches and like that look-n-feel. Great discoveries. Thanks for sharing.

Great watches! Nice to see more innovative designs from microbrands, they usually just copy Seiko, Rolex or Omega too much. Btw, I spent 30 seconds trying to remove a speck from my screen before I realized it was on your blue wall! 🤣🤣Excellent video as always! I was just going to ask how to change the batteries on the Nove when you said you didn't know!!

Which watch case is that? Did you buy it here in Japan?
@a_z.tazzzfan84972 жыл бұрын
I really like the Nove Gemini. Somewhat reminds me of the Invicta Transatlantic line dating back to around 2006. They were still making new designs in 2018, not sure if anything after that.

Do you have any reviews on Knot watches from Japan? I recently came across them and was wandering how they are?
@DovidSal2 жыл бұрын
With no doubt , the best of them , and no risk by saying: one of the best looking horology pieces at that price range, The Fullgear Tritium. With an excellent dial composition: spacious texturized dial, applied Arabic numbers and contrasting hands. The rest: leather (kind of unique / particular for the brand maybe), that brings character up and a decent engine - NH35. If manufacturing puts it together with high quality standards that is the watch to go to. Long time no see anything like this in these channels.... oh! btw, Tritium ... what a plus!! Good work David.
@JusttheWatch2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! They've got a few different dial layouts available as well, all of which look great!

I really like a couple of these watches, however, other than (perhaps) the Zeeda when converted to AUD I wouldn't call these watches affordable (for me at least) Good review though, keep it up.

Why 15mm height on the Fullgfear with an NH 35 and no complications? That's what for?....

Nice to show 4 watches at once. Saves a lot of time on me. I appreciate it. Watches are nice too. But, their finish is not typical Japanese. I guess they're made in China. That's why.
@tedblack24152 жыл бұрын
Not big on the zeeda it seems a bit messed up & confused, as you say better off on AX, & the pilot looks unnecessarily thick but it does suit your wrist, nice dial/handset as for the others ..meh , great you're in Japan bringing these to our attention.

That Nove bracelet reminds me of the Longines Conquest bracelets a generation or two back. I rather like the design, but it’s not very commonly done now.

Good. I'd Dave and while fullgear and nove look fairly good the other two are just a bit nuts and with a 6.5 inch wrist not my speed at all

Another great video Dave. Tritium is always cool on any watch. I've only every had one watch with it and I ended up selling it before I started my channel. I definitely need to get another one at some point. I love the dial on that Vesuviate and also the case shape too. The bracelet does look a bit on with those end links though. When it comes to Nove, they just aren't like anything else out there. I've reviewed a couple of their watches and I've been pretty impressed with them.

Love this idea PLEASE do it. For as good as the KZbin watch scene is there isn't anybody who is doing a dedicated monthly, even seasonally, list of new Microbrands / Crowd Funded watches and there's ALWAYS heaps coming out. It's the golden age for Microbrands that's for sure. In the last year I've bought a Titanium Ciga Design Z as my RM homage for $300 AUD. An Atowak Drift with a Wandering Hour Complication and a beautiful 3D face as an Urwerk homage for $900 Aud. And a Selten 00 with a gorgeous meteorite dial & a Day/Night indicator as my 'Meteorite Watch' for $500 AUD. The value is nuts. Titanium, Sapphire, Meteorite, rare complications, skeletonised movements. A decade ago at a jeweller $1700 would get me a Seiko Presage.

Absolutely love how daring Vesuviate was with the Viaggio something totally different and fresh, The Gemini, not so sure, too gimmicky and showy for my taste, but I appreciate the boldness.
@ozludo2 жыл бұрын
Interesting set of watches Dave. The Gemini is hilarious - perfect for a steampunk James Bond. The dials give "Two different looks" you say. One of them is "Subdued" you suggest. Sure. Absolutely - provided you ignore everything else that's going on. 🙃 Crazy but perfect for mad inventor cosplay. I love the colours and dial texture on the Fullgear, but that's super big. The Jetshark colour pops too, pity about all the quality issues - maybe folks should look at Aragon? The star for me was the Vesuviate - I really like the Guilloché pattern on the dial and the case shape. I want to see that on a leather strap. Good idea for a video series.

Dave, what do you think about the microbrand Kuoe based in Kyoto? Their military/ field watches -- the Old Smith 90-001 and 90-002 -- are really cool. Hope you can do a review on the 90-002, which has a really good take on the A11 design DNA. Thanks brother!

I dunno the Nove looks like something you’d pick up on Wish. The tritium is pretty impressive. Having said that, when I look at that watch, I think Dan Henry with the different themes and stamped graphics on the case back. As a side note, with HD and Micro lens, just a suggestion to dust the watch and turntable…as it stick out like a sore thumb.
@eggbertfarnsworth57872 жыл бұрын
Well, after watching this I went and ordered the Gemini. The next morning I sort of changed my mind, but received an e-mail it was already shipped, so I'm going to take it. Word to the wise, never order anything when you're drinking. Ponder it for while and make sure you're sober first.
@eggbertfarnsworth57872 жыл бұрын
I received mine today. Although I knew it was big, it fits my 7.5" wrist well. Only the hinge looks awkward, but it's not and the watch feels light enough when wearing it. Do I have Buyer's Remorse? I did, but now it's arrived I really like it. It may be more of a novelty, but I know my 7 year old grandson will be absolutely enthralled with it. Others will just shake their heads and tell me my watch obsession has gotten out of control. Overall, and although I initially felt silly about the purchase, now that's it's arrived, I am pleased I bought it.

Nove Gemini could be a hard sell given that it is quartz at that price. The flamboyancy also reminds of Invicta's giant watches.
@MrERNEST20112 жыл бұрын
If you actually paid $880 for that giant quartz gimmick watch, you wouldn't think that was reasonable

I was interested in the fullgear but it is just too thick. I've never known anyone that wanted a really thick watch. That Nove is amazing but more of a novelty. Love that vostok, I can't decide if I want one like that or one with a plain bezel or both

That Nove watch is super interesting and querky but super super ugly imo :D still a nice concept. Makes it more like a toy than an actual watch tho
@matthewgurlitz35142 жыл бұрын
Love the Nove, but would love to see them create a new watch with this concept but in a smaller size (say 42mm), and build a couple of complications into the second dial, maybe a chronograph, alarm, and tachymeter scale. I realize that would mean greater cost but still might be an option for some people who don't want to wear a 50mm watch.
