We expected to get bogged due to the soft sand. First time in this set up though. Great island to visit with lots to see and do. A great week of travel and some great company!

Ohhh I was excited. I’m the one that grew up there and said you would be fine on that track and about the different entrance. So so glad you went and conquered that beach. Hooray and good on you!! What section was that Sue & Derek? Looks like you had a steady northerly. It was great seeing snippets of Dunwich where I went to school & Amity where I learnt to night dive. The gorge is just stunning and it’s beautiful swimming there. I just picked up a portrait from my mum’s of the gorge to have it reframed. Hope you go back and visit the lakes and jumpingpin…. Great fishing there Derek!! We will look at taking the titanium over for a month & you’ve made me so excited to get back to where my heart lives. Great episode and glad you got to see a koala like that. We had them live in the front yard, very very special. Alexandra ❤❤

Straddie has lots of great memories for me, family stays each year, friends on weekends, and Our Wedding was held on the Island, the locals were so supportive when they found out, my photographer, celebrant, caterers all lived on the island, the local publican lent us esky’s and free ice, came and watered the grounds and gardens at the house ( St Andrews by the Sea) in the morning of our big day, the celebrant made my bouquets of Frangapanis flowers, and her friend made a flower arbour, it was an amazing day.. highly recommend, the boardwalk hikes, surf, lagoons, and the Straddie Pub, so good to see theirs a nice tavern at Amity.. happy you had a few days there to enjoy with company..Derek don’t be hard on yourself, many people have fails with video gear from time to time, a good reason to return again! 👍Side Note: Pls Don’t swim at Amity boat ramp, a few years ago a young woman lost her life from a shark bite, due to fishermen cleaning fish etc.
@suelandolt6840Ай бұрын
That sounds amazing. What an incredible experience for you! I am sure it gave you extra special memories for your wedding day! Yes I saw there are nets at the jetty. After seeing the number of sharks in the water from Point lookout I decided it was best not to swim out in the open!
@highvibe4839Ай бұрын
@@suelandolt6840don’t be put off swimming at Straddie Sue, that was a terrible one off situation, we swam safely at Point Lookout on many occasions, the locals will let you know of any danger situations if you ask them if you return. Theirs also Brown Lake and I think it’s called Blue lake, both can be swum in, you drive along the south eastern beach ( the right side of surf Club) to access the tracks to get there, or alternatively off the main road into Point lookout. Either way it’s a nice drive, pack some food and drinks and enjoy. You may know of these destinations as you’ve spent some time there now. Safe travels over the silly season. 🎄🏝

15psi, set of sand tracks and a winch is my setup. Great vid guys, you may want to get a set of filters for your drone to stop the bright bits washing out. Dji have them on thier site. Cheers
@suelandolt6840Ай бұрын
Thanksnso much, that's awesome advice. Appreciate it 😊
@4x4smileАй бұрын
@@suelandolt6840 No worries sue, you were almost there. Getting bogged is all part of the adventure. Make sure you deflate your van also. You can go down to 6psi even. Seek adventure did a test try to roll a tyre off at low psi, you would be amazed what you have to do to even roll a tyre off at 6psi. That said I've been bogged on wauraltee, every now and then you get caught out. But yeah good call on waiting to do straddy for having buddy vehicles. So much simper to have buddy pull you out, over hours of digging. And great call not burrying it and stopping and looking for options, always the best way. Cheers

Loved the end of this one even though you lost the footage. If you’re going to do daily backups to the oc and then re-format the memory cards it might be worthwhile having an extra external hard drive to backup the PC too.

Just back from a week over there- camped on Flinders Beach and had friends there for a month. We were lucky towing a 3.3 t van , not an issue with tyres 16,20 and van 20 all round … but can be tricky. Point lookout Brown Lake Amity Tavern ✅ Brewery at Dunich Main beach drive to Jumpinpin Just so much to do and you have plenty of dog friendly options. Only negative is the cost of the damn Sealink ferry - highway robbery!
