As a sewist, these are the tips I would suggest. You need to remember seam allowances. In addition, not only the seam allowances mean need more fabric, but you need more width for the front panels to cross over. That means the back panel should be narrower than double the width of the two front panels side by side. The top edge should have been shaped a little for the neck area. I know it’s easier for me to be an armchair quarterback than being in the midst of it. Overall, I think you did a fantastic job. As Toni says, edge stitching will do wonders to cure that curl. It would have been nice to see it edge stitched with Aran colored yarn to tie in the back to the front.

This is exciting...just something new. I am cuorious...sounds great already...5 minutes in...love it...I never skip to the end becouse like the journey... The pattern is mostly in multiple sizes. You just to need to cut your size. I think sewing just the satin kind of fabric is probably hard to do, you may have to use a lining for that. If you take a well fiting old shirt it may work as back panel aswell. Great project, it makes me want to do it.

As always, you did a smashing job! I was a little concerned as to the initial absence of a neckline, but you had that figured out and didn't tell us. I had the thought about crocheting the back right before you said what you were going to do. She's also into Victorian fashion, if it helps.

I thought it came out lovely, I do love watching you improvise on the fly. I personally love a plain garment, but one thought, for those who like a little pop, would be to embroider something on one or both of the panels, or add decorative buttons. There are some beautiful hand painted buttons with little birds or flowers, or novelty buttons, maybe a little fox face to keep with the hunting theme, whatever rocks your boat. And to snug up the back you could attach a strip of fabric or crochet a piece with a button hole and button it accross the back cinching it in that way. I hope that makes sense, I've often seen that on waistcoats. Anyway thankyou for the fun videos, I always look forward to them, have a lovely day ☺️

When I saw it was a waistcoat I was here: Oh, lordylord, I hope Corina remember the buttons and the neck portion if the pattern doesn't have it. In the end, the solution for the neck was ingenious and I thing that if you make some sort of collar with the same color you used for the back it will be so cute!. And maybe a border with the light color around the bottom to help with the curling that goes up a bit in the front so you can put on the buttonholes and buttons.

You did a good job, especially since it was a mystery pattern. I would suggest you use fabric for the back of the vest. Typically vests, even today, have a fashion fabric on the front and a less expensive fabric on the back. The thought it is that you won’t usually see the back of the vest. I agree with others that a small adjustable belt about 1” wide will really finish off the back of the vest. I also agree that using frog closures would look great and it has the added benefit of not having to deal with button holes! I would also suggest fabric facing for the armscye and back neckline. You could also add a facing to the inside of the lower front pieces if you still have a problem with the lower edges curling.
