I have been trying to learn how to crochet for the majority of my 54 life and couldn't figure it out. I'm dyslexic and learning how to do the stitches and or read the patterns have been such a pain. But then I found your channel and I followed along with you one stich at a time and finally have learn four stitches!! I'm still trying to learn others and I thank you for helping me without your mystery crochet series I just don't think I would be as far as I am now ❤. Thank you very much. Love the content and, and you are a wonderful teacher.❤

My mother (married in 1943) had a collection of white pineapple scarves on top of every piece of wood furniture. Nothing was allowed to be set directly on the wood on pain of death. One very similar to this one sat on our front entry table and hosted two Hummel figurines-Apple Boy and Goose Girl. I may have to make this just for the memory. Thank you! This pattern would have definitely been mom approved!

It really is a very pretty pattern and is definitely similar to many l inherited from my mum's collection from the late 40s on. I grew up in house with doileys on all the wood surfaces!

Real Pretty. I too recall seeing these on my Granny's and one Aunty's furniture - I think they were called antimacassers (spelling?). I always thought they were to protect the back of chairs from my dad and my uncles Brylcreamed hair - anyone else remember Brylcreme 😂😂
@dianavoermans8 ай бұрын
yes, antimaccassars. Apparently, there was a brand of hairproduct for men by that name which stained the furniture 😅

I have all he steel hooks my grandmother and aunt used when I e Was a youngster(I'm now 79) . They made doilies to sell for extra income for the family. You have me wanting to buy this thread so maybe I can keep the legacy going for the young ones in my family now. I do have a daughter and grandson who grochet as well. Happy times and many old and. new memories for me. Thank you.

I love watching your videos while I stitch. So, so soothing. And I've learned a lot about reading vintage crochet patterns. In fact, I'm working on a vintage baby bonnet pattern right now, and it would definitely NOT have worked if I hadn't learned about UK vs US crochet terms. The only problem with watching crochet videos while stitching is that every once in a while I will say, "Stop counting while I'm trying to count, girlfriend!" It cracks my family up. They are so entertained by me talking to youtube videos. 😁😄😆

I need to express my gratitude publicly. Thanks to you, Corinna, I've been practicing with steel hooks all week, in anticipation of this video. I wanted to be able to do it with thread, rather than yarn, so I left my excuses behind, told the voice in my head to take a break (grab a sandwich, get a nap in, you know you don't need to listen to that voice 24/7), and began. I worked with what I had, which is a 1mm hook and size 10 thread. it took forever, the center looks like I had a stroke, but my stitching became more even as I went on. Towards the end, I even developed a little speed. And I did it! I have the thing in front of me, and it's difficult for me to believe that it came off of my hook. But who else is here? Also, I feel like I'm finally a part of this community, because I learned about this aspect of the craft. There's not much else holding me back at this point. You are a national treasure, I kid you not. Please don't give up on yourself, your dreams, or your audience. You've become special to me, and I appreciate all that you do.

I am not a crocheter and don't aspire to be. My advancing vision issues wouldn't permit it, I'm afraid. I did attempt knitting long ago... made me sooo tense that I essentially knit the needles INTO my project and had to fight to pull them out! But watching these vintage crochet videos actually calms me at the end of the day... I have weaned myself from TV and watch these crochet mysteries unfold. A wonderful concept and very therapeutic in effect!

I learned to crochet with these kinds of patterns. I was a young mom and could afford balls of thread at Woolworths. Doilies had made a comeback so it was all good. I have to smile when new crocheters these days say they have to watch a video because they can’t read patterns.
