You really should try a magnifying glass/lamp. It’s the only way I do small stitch work. Stops the eye strain! 👁️💕🥰

I would have long since lost my mind at the 4th stitch. That said, I have two suggestions. First, if you use the wire "lightbulb" stitch markers, they won't distort your work as badly. Second, when you have a terribly fiddley start like this, work it with larger yarn and beads so you can see what you're doing. When you figure it out, go back and do the work with your thread. (I did that when I was learning to knit socks.) And fooie on your "follow the pattern exactly" detractors! It's your channel; you do you.
@SusieQ3
@SusieQ3 2 ай бұрын
I do the larger yarn thing, too when working something new or fiddly. Also, I agree completely, there's no need for her to stick to the pattern exactly as written, especially when in this period, they weren't written with exact instructions.

I completely agree, if somebody who's done a lot of lace work in the round you need the little pear-shaped safety pins, they are the only efficient way to mark a project that tiny.

I've realized that lately you really think a lot about what your viewers will think of any decision you make. But i think its important, that its ultimately your channel and your content, you do it for fun and maybe money, idk, but its YOUR work. You get to decide these things and i think most of your viewers wont mind, and those that do can just watch a different video :) With any choice there are people who will want one thing and some who want another thing. Maybe some want you to follow the pattern, but maybe also some want you to make it easier visible for us and easier for you, they like you changing things to fit the video better.

yup, I agree! Thinking about what the others will say only brings anxiety and distraction because you can't cater to everyone's tastes at once! Those who aren't satisfied can click away and watch something else, but in the end it's you and only you behind the creative process, and you don't have to answer to anyone but yourself. The audience is a shifting entity - some may become dissatisfied and leave, others will come, and those who will stay are the ones the most comfortable with you being you, so don't worry! We're here for your unique methods, touches and struggles.

I Googled "EE purse twist thread" and lucked out on my first hit! A blog called PatternsAlaCarte (hosted on blogspot) had a September 4, 2008, post titled "So what IS purse twist anyway?" The money quote is "From studying the antique beaded purses I determined that most of the bead crochet and bead knitting was done with thread about equal to size 8 DMC perle cotton." So, now we know!

You play Fallout?! That's so cool! That said, even though eyesight does get worse with age, please take care. If you need glasses, please get them and WEAR them. I know a lot of people not born with eye defects tend to not take their glasses seriously, especially when they're perceived as a sign of old age, but your eyes will thank you and it should slow down any degeneration 💜 Stay safe and rest after this chaotic project. PS: as I'm watching you undo this one multiple times, I am also AGAIN undoing some rows in my project 🤣

Just a little british/american culture difference, that being a british pattern, a purse for us is always what you would call a coin purse, I know you would call the bag that you carry your essentials in your purse, to us, that's a handbag. So you're absolutely correct in thinking it's a coin purse!

Hello Corrina, I so appreciate the work you do. Heaven's knows I can't do any of it because of my eyesight. But I can appreciate everything you do. With that being said, girlfriend don't be afraid to deviate from the pattern. You do it how it works for you. It still will be close enough to whatever it is you're making just your spin on it. It's just like a quilting we have a pattern sometimes. We can deviate from it and make it our own. The quilt police are not going to come and slap our hands. It's the same here Just make the decision to make it work for you and don't worry about what any of the rest of us think about it. I don't think I anybody under these circumstances. Is going to say " Corrina You didn't even try to follow the pattern" Because we all know you try your very best to do that. Just make more stitches to make it work for you it's really is okay. I hope you're not offended by me saying that because sometimes that's just what you got to do.

Man this is just so cool. This technique of beaded crochet,.. i am thinking i could actualy dress up a shirt or dress collar or cuffs or hems with this technique. A couple rounds of chain then bead then chain to finish off would make a cool edging detail. Now how to start it on the fabric edge ing i guess a person would use the crochet thread and sew a line along the edge and then treat that as the beginning stitch edges for crocheting. This is so cool!! What a bunch of ideas i am getting from watching these videos. I dont need a coin purse but i would like to jazz up my clothes a bit. So awesome! Ooh an edge on curtain sheers., adds some weight to hang better.

First - I love watching your videos! Second - Do you have any magnifying glasses with an led light? I cross stitch with beads on 32 count and let me tell you the stitches are sooooooooo small and I had to go out and buy a magnifying glasses. If I do not want to wear my glasses I do have magnifying lamp that I used for my cross stitch but that is expensive. As a side note if you can get glass its less likely to get scratches. I am new to your channel but I have decided to buy the red beaded purse pattern from your Esty shop to give it a try! I love it when you hit a road block with these older patterns because you can tell that you are very experience at crocheting! Anyway, please keep up doing videos I love them!

Mistaking r and t, I can relate 😂. I have a little astigmatism and looking to bright things sometimes is just stressing. That is kind of my problem with metal crochet hooks, as I try to use them the light that shines on them kind of make a flare that makes it hard to keep looking at in a long run. Once I saw a picture that did show how people without and with astigmatism see lights and it really makes a difference. Light and thin stuff will always get messy to see. The last time I did have glasses made on it was around 0,25 (degrees? I don't know how to say this in English) now it is probably more but making new glasses is hard when you need to rely on other people to pay for them. The pouch would look pretty with some filet and a bit of a decorative frill on top and a strap to close.

Ooh. OOH! At about 1:36 in the video, you can make out what the blacked out word is! 😆 But shhhh! 🤫 There's this giant magnifying glass you can wear around your neck. It's usually sold for cross stitch and embroidery, but I'm seriously considering it for when I use crochet thread. I'm very near sighted and sometimes can't really see what I'm doing, even with my glasses. One time, I noticed my mother looking at me oddly, and it was because I was holding the project very close to my face 😂

Maybe I missed it...and I'm not being picky here but were you going to add the 'festoons of beads' to the bottom of the purse? I'm not sure if you decided on being fancy with it :) BTW - your last 'beaded' purse video, I believe it was marked the 'Long purse' inspired me to try beaded crochet. I hunted & I hunted & I hunted in my stash for beads but could only find larger round beads. Much bigger than the seed beads. So, I have to work with what I have so it will be made with....I'm hoping...cotton yarn. Not the dish rag cotton but the Softee Baby cotton or what I have left of my Gazzal cotton yarn. Ooooo! luxury bigger beaded purse to evolve soon xxx
