Chicago 8K 360° Video - Virtual Reality - Driving Downtown

I love this technology! Entertainment in 10-20 years will be VERY DIFFERENT! How far away are we from being able to stream 16K 360° video? 10 years i'm guessing. This video looks great on the Oculus Quest though. 1)What device are you using to watch? (device processing power is critical for a quality picture) 2)How fast is your internet speed? (This is a lower quality version than the RAW video the camera filmed so this shouldn't be an much of an issue but 300Mbps is overkill and KZbin compresses this significantly. This also applies to the processing power statement above.) First of all, keep up the good work, you're one of the few YTers out there that provides ultra-high quality city drives around the world, with great quality during nighttime, without any annoying music or extra useless stuff. Props for that. I did the test with 2 devices : Desktop computer and mobile phone. Regarding the desktop test (KZbin desktop): • Crystal-clear and smooth image on Chrome 64 bits (Firefox 64 bits (my daily browser) is not able to handle well such a high-quality streaming, even on a intel i7-7700k / gtx1070 / 16 GB ram configuration) at 4320s60 (8K). • I have a 1 Gbps (down) asynchronous fiber; it runs well, YT advanced stats indicates a connection speed of +/- 220 Mbps when loading random parts of the video, with a constant buffer health of 32+ secs. -> Amazing experience even if the VR one must obviously be better! Regarding the phone test (on an iPhone XS, non-VR, KZbin iOS app) : • Capped to 1080s60, vertically. No buffering or lags, that's great. • Same connection speed, maybe a bit less, since it's over WiFi, but it's enough to watch it without any buffering. -> Cool experience.

@AP Thanks for the details! The desktop info is particularly helpful. My workstation has similar specs and similar issues. But yes the immersive quality of VR is where its at! I haven't been focused on this topic lately but I will be looking into it more going forward.

J Utah You can get watch dogs 1 on the ps3 which is based off of Chicago but watch dogs 2 is on ps4 and Xbox one and is based on San Francisco

8K doesn't seem to be as sharp as 4K on the Insta360 Pro 2... at 3:49, on the right, that blue "Epic Fun" advertisement seems less detailed in 8K than in 4K, where I can just about read it if I zoom in 2 clicks whereas in 8K is blurrier! Anyway, for me, 1080p in 360° is the new equivalent of 480p in the regular 2D video: it's good enough to watch most stuff in real-time, at least on a PC web browser... I just bump up the resolution if I really need it to read/check something in detail.
