Description: This video by BYJU’s is a description of the features of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill, 2014, its criticisms and Juvenile Delinquency. The Juvenile Justice Board, its mandate and composition. The categories of offences committed by the Juveniles and associated punishments are explained. Provision for “Adoption” under the Juvenile Justice Bill is spoken about in the video. Justice Verma Committee report is also taken up for discussion.

Excellent presentation. Towards the last part of the video...I feel sometimes schools itself function as mini jail's for academically incompetent, mentally weak, introvert children from poor or /and dysfunctional families. Often these children are at the mercy of bully classmates and non understanding teachers.

I believe that in most cases public opinon helps the victim more than the accused. There are criminals, but there are also people being falsely accused of these crimes. Media play a Key role in this factor. they have to make sure that they are providing credible info. Rather than TRP, they should work earnestly. That being said, I know Media doesnt work that way. I feel that in both these cases (women and child security and this), effective judicial and policing play a key role.

It was mentioned that the maximum punishment can be 3 years. I was curious if the word punishment has been used in the JJA, since juveniles are not traditionally punished, they are kept in hostels to polish them in a way that they can go back into the society.
