Maybe the "Clicking" of the Solenoid is to give the operator an indication of the thing operating HAHAHAHAHA Thanks Dave... Mike M.

Since the head cleaner is solenoid operated, I guess there's a button on the front that activates it. Maybe the wire going to that button still picks up the noise from the reel motor. Although it is quite dumb if it can be activated while the drum is not spinning.

No switch. It activates during load and unload and while in search.
