I’m obsessed with your hair care line. I’ve gone through the gamut of other products. After using Amika which is what my stylist uses, my hair hated it, so greasy and heavy with product. I could relate to a ton of your story!! I mean I'm a 45 year old married women when 6 boys. But that's not who I am!! I struggled with addiction in my 20's and early 30's! It was bad! I grew up in the small town of Macomb Illinois and in my mid 20's I moved to Quincy Illinois where I gave birth to my youngest 3 children! All while still fighting my addiction!! I worked at a Restaurant called The Abby for about 5 years(the Abby girls) and i think it was a prerequisite to party a lot of you worked there!! Lol I was sexually abused at a young age and from there I just did whatever I could to mask the pain! To fit in somewhere!! Anywhere!! My children went to Dewey school. I left Quincy in 2011 and moved down south for about a year then ended up in Pennsylvania for about another year and then in 2013 ended up in Western NY. This is when cps came into my life. They put my children in foster care. I thought it was the worst day of my life!! Turns out it's probably the only reason I'm still alive today! My first day clean was 11/25/13! I didn't test positive for hiv but i was definitely scared i would. I did year positive for hep c. Back then the treatments weren't as good as they are now! They made me pretty sick for what seemed like forever!!! I got through it though!! That was like 5 months after I started beauty school! I had to drop out and focus on getting better so I could get my kids home! 8 years later my life is pretty damn good! I've stayed clean by helping others!! Service work! Both in my 12 step fellowship and out! The 1 thing I've been missing though is my self care!! What do I do that is just for me?? For my happiness? Not much! I didn't know who you were and clicked on a tutorial video(on hair of course).. then decided to check out your other videos . When I saw this one and it said your fight with addiction I knew I needed to watch it!! I am a strong believer in signs! Whether it's from the universe or God.. I'm not sure.. but after watching your video it just clicked!!! This is what I'm missing!!!! I love hair/makeup/ skincare!! I had over 500 hrs finished but I want to start over! I need a purpose that is just for me! Being a mother is the best thing ever!! Helping others get clean has been probably the best thing I've ever done and helped with my self esteem, self confidence and helped me to learn to forgive myself for hurting the people I loved the most!! Helped me forgive myself for doing whatever it took to get high everyday for years!! But it's not too late to go back to school!! This video literally was my sign!! This is what I need to do next!!! This is what I love! Thank you so much for your transparency and telling us your story. Before I decided to leave this long comment I did go to Google to find out more info about you!! Lol..I still have to find a school to go and all that stuff because the school I did go to in this small town of Olean ny closed up during the early parts of the pandemic. I want to start fresh anyway!! I still go visit Illinois a couple times every year. My parents live in Macomb and 2 of my older boys. Again, thank you So much!!! You helped me finally realize I do know what I like.. what I love. I just forgot!! You helped me remember!!!

Minneapolis native here who went to Aveda school for hair consistently from 2007-2011. I discovered the university student discount, and the organic ingredients (biomaterials chemist and engineer here 👩‍🔬🧪 ) and became obsessed with natural ingredients and formulas they use. also gay 90s is where I first kissed a girl 😂though it was at a cheesy AF under 21 night!! Really enjoyed hearing about how you got started doing hair. Absolutely love you! I went to school in your home town (back before you were born when it was Quincy College). Tower pizza was my absolute favorite (at that time it was right next to the college campus), but that was a major splurge on my college student budget). We hung out on Quinsippi Island and drove across the river to Iowa where it was legal for 18 year olds to drink. You also went to hair school with one of my friends (Kate Buchen). I have a child who is non-binary and I absolutely love that you are out there being an incredible role model for enby community!

😂 Gurrrl, Mark and my man have the same trouble to deal with when it comes to animals. I have 2 cats and a dog, but am now forbidden from acquiring anymore. When we cross a parking lot and he spots a curbside adoption, he will literally shift his weight onto me in an effort to redirect from temptation. In the near future, we have plans to relocate to the country. Ya know, something with a lil acreage to it. I've already warned him that I'll be bringing all the needy critters home. You just become more and more delightful with every new vid. Keep working on that work life balance. You certainly deserve it 💜🖤
