John, Adrian mentioned that I was in K Car when sadly Dave Barclay was killed. Not true, Pete Darndell again as I was on Para course at Sarum. Give Adrian my regards, remember him well. Great guys, all of 7 Squadron : we Browns owe them a great deal, not least of all our lives.

Thank you Adrian for sharing your experience. Very informative and interesting. You never know what another man has been through until you have “walked in his shoes”. By sharing this you’ve given us a glimpse into the vital role of the Rhodesia Airforce and the support they provided to the brave young soldiers of Rhodesia. We salute you Sir. Thank you.

Indeed. Seems, as youth, we long to be "adults". Yet, as adults we (usually) are sent off to war. If we are lucky... we survive our war... only to return aged beyond our years. War demands one of two tolls... either life or Soul. To those fallen... we remember you. Always.

Fantastic interview John and Adrian. Much good wishes to you both. Told with such humility the stories bring tears to my eyes. My brother David was shot down and killed in Mozambique 12.1.1977 and we had talked about the war in depth two weeks before he was killed and David spoke with much fondness of many of the men you flew with. God bless all who fought. You were the best of best.

Thank you for your contribution Cpl. It looks like this is something that you would rather forget, that I do understand. I was in the SADF from 86 at 4 Recce as whatever they could use me for lol!!! My father also lost family in Rhodesia in the Service. My wife had an Uncle named Gunter he also maybe spend some there as a Chopper Tech. The best of all is that he was scared of heights, he needed a stiff whiskey before he could go up. The Air Force allowed it lol!!!!

Adrian, your comments re how beautiful the valleys, etc. looked is so spot on. I think back with fond memories as a Brown Job, how some mountainous vistas were "just there", especially Marymount area - absolutely stunning! And always appeared to be so peaceful.....Indeed to this day, always a beautiful and wonderful Country.

Sometimes us TF troopies felt that we were just walking targets to attract Terr gunfire, but Adrian was a flying target looking for a 12,7 😂 Yeah the RPG self detonated at 600 metres if it hit nothing. Adrian was probably in a lot of the scenes that we had in the Honde Valley. That was a hot area
